"This is Khan Sennet to all forces on Homer, lay down your weapons or be destroyed! Your clans involvement in this scientist debacle is beyond reproach and only your surrender or removal is the answer. If you lay down your weapons you will be taken bondsmen and screened to see your individual involvement in this act of treason, those not involved will be sparred. Only those who have committed treason have something to fear, the jaws of the Diamond Shark!"
[OCC CDS is invading all of Homers hexes, once the individual hex defenders are established, the sharks will name the attacker to that hex.

"Khan Sennet," a feminie voice responds, "I am Homeworld Naval Adjutant Kali Hobbes of Clan Star Adder. Word of your arrival has already been sent to the Loremaster and Khans of Clan Star Adder, as your arrival here is both unwanted and unwarranted. Apparently you have not been paying attention to recent events. Homer, and all former Cobra territories, are now property of Clan Star Adder."
"Those that have been identified as having a part in the Scientist treachery have been dealt with, while the Inquisition continues to discern those that are still trying to hide from their association and guilt. Their fate is of no concern to you and your Clan, as the situation is now the internal matter of Clan Star Adder and under the purview of our Watch."
"If you wish to confront those who continue to fight against their rightful punishment, then I suggest you turn your attention to those dezgra primate kindraas formerly known as Mandrills. Or better yet, join our kin on their justified Crusade against those damnable Not-Named in the Inner Sphere."
"However, if you wish to pursue your agenda against my Clan, I am sure I can find a suitable contingent of newly adopted Adder Warriors who wish to prove their worth and honor to those who successfully Absorbed them, thus while I tie up your forces that could be put to better and more honorable use elsewhere, the Khans will deal with you in the Grand Council."
"The choice is yours Khan Sennet, choose wisely," and with that the link goes silent.
[ooc: We're still waiting for some details post-Absorption, so hopefully we will get some information soon]

[OOC: no worries, hell for all I know I could be wrong as I was, and am, under the impression that the Absorption, since Hugin stated IC as the ilKhan that "the Cobra has fallen", was for everything that was Cobra, and that's how Ive RPed it, even posting the addition of former Cobra Holdings as becoming Star Adder in the Map Update thread here, and I havent been contradicted by any of the GMs, past and present. Though those units that were Abjured prior to the ilKhan's call for the Absorption/Bidding are fair game to any and all.
To clear up any confusion, could we get Dave, or maybe Hugin (since he was the one in charge of the Cobra storyline) to chime in on this matter.]
OOC: The trial last cycle was to absorb the Cobras. Hugin posted up what ws left of their touman after the internecine fighting, or at least that was my understanding of it. We've been trying to get word back on the holdings since IM worked his magic winning the trial. Real life and Dave trying to run two full games has interfered so far.
[I can wait for the answer and we can go from there, the CDS point of view is that the absorption was for the troops and not their territory et all (how i interpret that posted trial)
OOC: The answer I got at the time was that the Holdings, Legacies, and all the other assocated possessions of the Clan, save for any hold out warriors and scientests, were to become part of the Adders.
IC, honestly, its ours because we just said it was. What are you going to do about it?

(OOC: I got an answer from Dave, and I'll continue RPing the Adder belief...what the Sharks believe may differ, but should be interesting to play out)
Quote"Adjurant Hobbes i must have missed where the Council Loremaster approved the absorption of all Cobra territory, their lower castemen and placed the full investigation of the Cobras treason upon the Adders."
"Khan Sennet", Kali responds, "the ilKhan decreed that, and I quote,
'the Cobra has fallen', subsequently declaring a Trial of Absorption and opening the forum for bids for said Absorption, nowhere did she state that the Trial was only for a portion of the Clan."
"Apparently you take umbrage with the ilKhan's decree, and our interpretation of said decree, as well as Clan Star Adder's success and its belief based upon that success. If so, then perhaps you should have paid closer attention to the events as they transpired. Take take your complaints to her and your perception at her order being to vague for you to comprehend, while your Warriors think long and hard about the inattentiveness of their Khans."
"In the past, an Absorption was for the
entirety of any Clan that was viewed as
fallen. Clan Star Adder successfully won the bidding and the Trial, thus Clan Cloud Cobra is no more, and all things Cobra are now Star Adder," she states confidently, "Clan Star Adder has thus laid claim to all former Holdings of the Clan that was Cloud Cobra, and has moved forces into those areas."
Adjutant Hobbes continues after a brief pause, "So while there are some that refuse to recognize the validity of Clan Star Adder's successful Absorption, such as yourself, we are here, and will defend all of our territories, old and new, fervently. With honor against those who possess it, while those who refuse to face Clan Star Adder as a
true Clan will be dealt with accordingly."
"I am not here to argue symantics with you Adjurant Hobbes, nor am i here to question the ilKhan decree that the Cobras have fallen; something we all can agree on, nor am i here to discuss past Absorptions for they are all different."
"I am here to claim the former territory of Clan Cloud Cobra."
"I, Khan Sennet of Clan Diamond Sharks claim the world of Homer, former holdings of the fallen Cloud Cobras; who denies my claim?"
"So be it then Khan Sennet of Clan Diamond Shark," Kali snorts, "I, Kali Hobbes, formerly of Clan Cloud Cobra, now Homeworld Naval Adjutant of Clan Star Adder, deny your claim to this world. My victory over you and your remora Warriors will serve to reinforce Clan Star Adder's victory and Absorption of Clan Cloud Cobra."
"Today, Clan Diamond Shark will experience what it is like to be chum, fit only for baiting those of lesser stature," Kali declares.
(OOC: Dis or IM will hopefully get a defensive bid up in the very near future, though still waiting on a couple of details from the GMs)
I can take this, though my only avalability is in the mornings Pacific time. These days, the little one's napping around 11AM so that is best, but I can try and work anything from 8AM to 1PM. If that can't work, then its up to Dis, or a proxy.
Unless the rules have changed you have to trial for each hex. We probably should try to fight out the hex element ones at the least. My availability for the next 2 weekends is pretty much shot (a kotei and a 2 day convention) so I'd only be available during the week.
According to the last Pm from dave their might be other rebel forces present as well.
OOC: On a ToP, you trial for each hex. Those previous missions where there were no trials or zell were labeled invasions. Declaration of which planets had Adder forces before this turn began, and which had abjured Cobras is needed. If these were not on the force list recieved by the Adders. GM intervention would make this go a lot smoother.
So options, Abjured Cobras have control of the planet. First person to launch their invasion get the defensive bid on the trials after that, or the Adders have the Planet and defensive bids on the trial defer to them.
Weather or not there are any holdout Cobras, my understanding (I still work with my old mates, but I haven't seen the orders, which is probably for the best) is that there is a pretty sizable force of honest to goodness Adders on world (well, maybe some Burrocks too) in part precicely to make sure that we can corrall any holdouts. So the Adders are definatly in possition to answer any trials or resist any invasions.
If its to be an invasion, then we can do that with as many or as few fights as need be, based on our avalabilities and how many we can squeese in (I think on paper, its still best of three even in the HW, but I haven't been on top of some of the new changes). We'll RP our responce to that appropreately of course. Or if its to be trials, then I concur with Dis that we need to focus on the key hex elements, and if anything needs to go to a roll, we can do that. We might also think about bundeling many elements into trials, perhaps two or three hexes if we think we can work that in. And we'll RP that apropreately as well.
[OCC
So we dont know what hexes are controlled fully by the Adder-Cobras or Scientist Cobras, i believe that's the first step on how we proceed. From the sharks point of view any hex -fully- controlled by the Adder-Cobras will be fought using a ToP style fight, any other hex controlled by the Scientist Cobras will be an invasion. I hope Dave can shed some light and determine what hexes are owned by whom.
OCC]
OOC: If there are even a % of hexes held our with by Abjured cobras, those units are open to invasion without loss of honor by anyone. This is just my opinion though. GM calls win out over all our speculations ;)
Well, honor's an IC thing. So, the Sharks may feel that they can take some or all of the world and be in the right, the Adders' stated position is that they can not, and the hold out Cobras may feel that both are in the wrong.
For my part as a semi-Adder, the Adders will certanly not stand by while 'our' Cobras duke it out with interloapers on 'our' world, what ever the physical realities of the situation might be, so the very least responce would be a verbal chastisment, but if we could muster it we'd see a millitary intervention by Adder forces. I'd love to see a mechanic that would alow the sorts of three way fights that might take place should the Sharks go foward, but I do want to get it out in the open that it is not the IC intention of the Adders that we will stand asside or make any IC toleration of any sort of schenanagans.
So, from our stand point, of course we want to have a sense of what areas our Adder-controlled units (again, some of these units are honest to goodness Adder and Burrock warriors, and others may be just Cobras who know how to follow orders) and where any holdouts might be. But one wonders if it would be as cut and dry as that, as clear cut as that. I think it may not be unreasonable that there's no sense of IC clearity, for the Sharks or for the Adders, as to who really as physical position of what, any more than it is clear who's really got legal possession of anything.
But, perhaps that's just me.
OOC: It's great to feel that your being honorable, or offended by others lack of honor. But at the end of the day, each clan will view your actions and have their own oppinions of honor and it's not just how you see things youself, you have to use the overall view sometimes. By all means, if you feel you're right, have at it IC, but don't try to convince the player OOC that they're wrong so they back off before the IC begins. I stand by the original speculation, get some kind of GM overview of what is there before you push forward with the IC, only because clear definition is needed. If the Abjured are here and holding land, anyone can attack them, they're abjured.
I fully agree, and it was not my hope to push anyone into anything. But it was my hope to outline what I hope for my actions to be, so that we can go foward with a sense of how each side wants to proceede and look at the sort of game mechanics that can make that work. Now, the Sharks may feel that they can attack the Cobras and be ok. If I were them, I'd probably feel that way as well and I think they could make a very good case for it.
But what we know is that the Sharks want to attack holdout-Cobra hexes, and we know that the Adders aim to intervean in that to prevent the Sharks from that action (at least we do now). That was the point of what I was getting to, is that that is the nature of the actions I intend to take (and why) so that we can see as to how to implement that, and to implement Holt's orders to attack.
OOC, I'm a bit excited that this could turn into a nice little donnybrook, which is one of the reasons that I think it might be fun to see the picture as one that is a bit muddled, and not so cut and dry, and it is absolutly my OOC hope that we get some good solid fighting. But, that's equaly much not for me to push on anyone.
OOC - just an FYI, there are abjured Cobra forces on-planet. No naval forces.

"You speak such words Kali Hobbes, when my sensors detect two distinct groups of military activity on the world of Homer. You clan was tasked with the removal of all adjourned Cloud Cobras, yet the Adders sit idly by not carrying out its mandate. You claim this is an internal matter within your clan, but your lack of action to complete the removal of all scientist elements are very disturbing."
(ooc: durnit, you interrupted me as I was working on another post for the Adder IC Thread...oh well, here's what I come up with on the spur of the moment....)
"Well, had you not arrived and announced your desire to interfere with of our operations, Clan Star Adder forces would be moving to engage those forces instead of having to hold back in order to deal with the likes of you and your opportunistic Clan," Kali retorts.
She further goes on to add, with a degree of annoyance, "The Adders moved units here as soon as able, knowing what was present, in order to deprive the Abjured of the infrastructure they would use to incite further rebellion if given the chance. Acts that were progressing according to plan and ahead of schedule, that is until you stuck your cold-blooded nose where it does not belong, nor is it wanted or needed."
"Much like your namesake, you strike when your foe is either distracted or weakened, being more of a scavenger than a true predator. Return from whence you came Shark, and if you dare, in six months time once Clan Star Adder has completed the removal or redemption of those who were once Cloud Cobra, bringing those who still retain a shred of honor back upon the Honor Road, bring back your pack of hyenas and try to act like a proper Clan," Kali's patience all but gone as she continued addressing the Diamond Shark Khan, "Military actions are not like your preferred mercantile dealings Khan Sennet, they require precision, planning and time in order to reach the desired goal. Any deviation from a military plan all to often leads to disaster, or has it been so long since you saw a proper military battle that you have forgotten that Khan Sennet?"
"So either wait for a more honorable time before declaring a batchall, or throw whatever you call honor away and continue your initial intent. I seriously doubt that the rebel forces will welcome you anymore than they have welcomed us. Clan Star Adder has experience in three-way battles and came out the victor, so if you wish to repeat the errors of the past, refusing to learn the error of Clan Blood Spirit, then by all means Clan Star Adder is more than willing to enforce our right by military might," by this time all pretense of respect is gone, realization that she may have just committed her Clan to a confrontation with another Clan, in addition to its current operations, comes to late.
Cutting the transmission to the Diamond Shark Khan before calling out orders, "Get all Warriors to their machines and transmit an HPG message to Central Command, tell them we are likely going to need reinforcement here, sooner rather than later," as she slams her fist onto the console before her, silently chastising herself for her lack of emotional self control, as her subordinates hastily follow her orders. In a few short minutes, the entire Star Adder contingent is quickly manning their respective implements of War, determined to make Clan Diamond Shark and the Cobra rebels regret their decisions.
Should she survive this, she fully intends to offer surkai to the Khan for her action and outburst, until that time, she'll take out her frustrations on whomever places themselves in the crosshairs of her OmniMech.
"If it will take six months just to clear the scientist from this world, it seems you are the ones that need to learn how to properly plan a military campaign. You blame the entry of my forces for keeping your forces from attacking the Cobras, but only know are your forces on alert; so tell me is lying a Cobra trait or is a new Adder trait in you? We will stand guard over the world while you engage the Adjourned Cobras as is your duty, fail to do so and I will take a sign of being unable to carry out your duty."
(ooc: the following message (full post here - http://intelser.org/forums/index.php?topic=126.msg2124#msg2124) will eventually (and hopefully) reach the leaders/ecKhans of the rebellious Cobra factions on Homer, Babylon and all other holdings still under control by those claiming to be Clan Cloud Cobra. Other Clans could discover its contents, but would likely require Intel Ops by their respective Watches...and an IC reason to even really be interested or care what it says)
Quote"I am ecKhan Odinsson Eaker of the As'tru Cloister of Clan Star Adder, formerly of Clan Cloud Cobra, the last Khan of Clan Cloud Cobra wish to speak to you all who still fight under the name of that once proud, noble and honorable Clan. Friends, peers, even my enemies I ask, nay, I implore you to reconsider your current path. I know you still view yourselves as Cobra, for I do as well, but the time of the Cobra has ended. My acts as Khan were the final nail in the coffin that all of us helped construct. Our own divided nature, akin to that that of the Fire Mandrill kindraa, was instrumental to our downfall. While it was what united us in the beginning, soon our separate beliefs and views of The Way became our weakness. Instead of keeping our Clan focused on its path, it led us to many forks in that path, with each cloister taking the path it deemed best, and then channeling its energies into putting the whole Clan along that path. What we forgot was that all paths are part of The Way, and so lost our Collective Way."
"Our bickering and attempts at placing our respective cloisters, our personal needs, ahead of the Clan is what allowed the insurgent Scientists to gain a foothold within our Clan. It was our collective inattention to the Universe around us that permitted them to corrupt so many of us, all Clans suffered from this deficiency, some more than others as events have revealed unto us."
"During my thankfully brief tenure as Khan I did what I had to do in order to preserve what was left of the Clan, to keep the casualties to a minimum. Had the infighting continued it would have put what remained of Clan Cloud Cobra at the brink of Annihilation. No honor would have remained, our very existence would have been erased from Clan history for the acts some were committing under the banner of Clan Cloud Cobra. I refused to let that happen, and while the outcome is not ideal, it is considerably better than the alternative. Absorption was, and is, the best means of our survival. It allows us to continue, to be an influence on future generations, to guide another Clan along its path, its Way."
"So while it is not the Way of the Cobra, it is still the Way of the Clans, the Way of the Adder is noble. It is visionary. It is the future. No other Clan has the respect for the cloister as they, no other Clan will give you equal treatment as they, no Clan will give you the chance to redeem the name and honor of Clan Cloud Cobra as they."
"Clan Star Adder, thru their Khan, Stanislav N'Buta, has earned my respect. In return I have pledged my own, as well as my honor. And to fulfill that honor I ask of you to take your place once more within the Clans of Kerensky, accept the Absorption for what it represents, a second chance to fulfill the dream of the Founder. A second chance to accomplish what the Great Father could not. Become one with Clan Star Adder and you will get the chance to see, to do, what they could not, the formation of the True Star League will be within your grasp."
"I ask this of you, not only as a fellow Cobra, but as a Clan Warrior. As my surkai to those that believe I betrayed them when I called for their Abjuration I can offer but two things. A brief explanation, I did what I deemed necessary to preserve the Clan as best I could. And this," a ballistic pistol is revealed to be in his hand when her presses the barrel against his temple, "as surkai and incentive to honor the Clan we all called Cloud Cobra as we knew it, not what it became. I offer my life so that you may continue yours with honor. My life for the life for Clan Cloud Cobra, may my blood be the last that is shed of those who still cling to their faith. May my last breath be the breath of a new life for those who join with Clan Star Adder. May my last words be ones of hope in this time of despair."
And with that pronouncement, ecKhan Odinsson Eaker squeezes the trigger. The large caliber, explosive round erupts from the barrel, the sound of its exit coinciding with the bullet blowing out the left side of his head in a spray of blood, bone and brain matter.
The last image of Odinsson Eaker is that of a man at peace with himself at last, eyes closed and a small smile of satisfaction upon his lips.

Are you planning to attack individual hexes only or attack the entire planet? The list of units posted was only an OOC note to clarify the fact that Cobras were still "in the wild" on the planet - unless intel ops or other methods of detection have been used you wouldn't know their FP.
Having said that, the clarified rules allow raids (i.e. Recon Raid) to be used as part of an invasion, if the Sharks want to launch such a probe during the first round of combat to find out what they are facing.

[Upon seeing the Adders activity on the surface, the Shark dropships slow their transit to the planet. I would think the intel raid procedes.]

Somewhat later, after the arrival of Adder forces (vicinity of hex 2118)
Quote"Star Adder forces, this is Director Lucius Kolomogorov. I understand that you believe us to be villians of the darkest character, but you have been mislead. Right now, you are acting as pawns to powers who are maneuvering towards nothing less than the total destruction of Clan society and the permanent termination of the Founder's mission. At this juncture, we cannot surrender to you; we have no illusions as to what our fate would be in the hands of Clan justice following the events that occured on Strana Mechty."
"If you move to seize control of this enclave, we will have no choice to defend ourselves. On the other hand, if you ensure our security for sixty days (OOC - one turn), we will depart peacefully and permanently. In exchange for your protection, you have my word as a true loyalist to the Founder's vision that we will share with your Watch the truth of the events that occured at Strana Mechty."
Sector 2416...
"Jonathan Steiner, we have been waiting for you. Thor's Hammer is at your disposal."
OOC - 33rd Battle Cluster places itself under your command.

Shortly after the the Enclave addressed the approaching Adder contingent, a reply was made, "Director Lucius Kolomogorov, if what you claim is true then you should accept the Trial result. Set aside your arms and assist is ferreting out those that brought your Clan down, instead of wasting time and men that could be put to more productive use elsewhere, that is if you still possess the honor of true Clansmen."
"Continue with your current actions and you will be buried where you fall, and those that survive will be interrogated rigorously. Your opportunity to run has passed, either abide by the Ruling of the ilKhan and the Adder's subsequent success, or fight. Clan Star Adder has no wish to, nor will we, punish the innocent, or those that were duped. However, all will be subject to questioning to determine their part, if any, in this whole debacle. No one is above suspicion!"
"It was elements within Clans Cloud Cobra, Fire Mandrill, and others that brought this about, and unfortunately your Clan suffered greatly because of those elements. As we speak multiple Clans are moving on the remnants of Clan Fire Mandrill in the Homeworlds, while
yours was given the chance to remain
relatively intact, minus those that fled to the Inner Sphere to seek a place as part of Clans Wolf and Goliath Scorpion."
"If you truly seek the fulfillment of the Founder Mission, to
unify the Clans and Inner Sphere, then your
intelligence should allow you to see that this is a step in that direction. Claim an honorable place within Clan Star Adder, share all that you know with the Watch without hesitation, and be part of the Future. Or not. In thirty seconds my forces will act per their orders, and any resistance will be met with a concentrated response."
"You have thirty seconds to decide the length of your lifespan, how you will be remembered, and the fates of all those that follow your lead, Director Lucius Kolomogorov. Star Colonel Calvin Hobbs out."
"Twenty Nine, twenty eight, twenty seven twenty...," the transmission continues, the countdown being relayed on all frequencies and continued in a feminine voice (ooc: ala Star Trek...hehehe), as the sensor arrays within the former Cobra enclave register fusion engine output peaking as the Adder forces begin putting some distance between themselves so as to present smaller groupings for possible artillery attacks, as well as a defense against strafing runs from rebel ASF and/or conventional aircraft.
(ooc: if there is no response that would constitute surrender - white flag, powering down of weapons/Mechs/ASFs, etc - then the Adder forces will open up with long ranged, concentrated fire on one target by multiple Mechs, moving to another once initial target is destroyed...unless Dis or IM wanna play it out via MM, then it's however they wanna work it)
Quote"I am sorry, Galaxy Commander, but as you yourself said: no one is above suspicion. I regret the waste of lives that seems imminent."
Sensors are detecting 'Mechs and fusion-powered vehicles powering up within underground shelters.
Science Caste forces prepare to defend.
I'd love to MM this out. Battlefield RP gives us a last chance to do our political thing, or else me my chance to bash some skulls.

then if Dave/LittleH can, or find a proxy if cant, MM, you have my blessing to blow stuff up
I probably won't be able to play this out before orders are due, but if anyone (Josh?) wants to play it out I can get them the info for the match.
Alternately, we can let this spill over into turn 39.
[CDS Doesnt mind it being carried over to turn 39.]
[ooc: no issues from me for a carryover]
