False Star League too, I guess?
Who opposes the landing?
I don't know what I'm opposing, so if you wouldn't mind stating what's up there.
Dozens of Dropships burn towards the planet, accompanied by various warships. The Clan seems eager to take this world.
82.25 FP are the Naval/Aero Arm and pave the way for the Ground troops.
A Message is sent:
"I am Khan Raina Montose, leader of Clan Ice Hellion. Surrender this world to us or be destroyed. You have 24 hours!"
"You know I could care less if you are here to kill us. We are tired of running and hearing your proclamations of entitlement to some other country's dirt, so here is the deal, Khan Honey Bunches of Oats," said General Edwin May who looked a bit frazzled. "I'll allow you to land unmolested or what you call safecon because I don't want to waste perfectly good pilots against warships. And I doubt that you, Miss Screaming Banshee, want to use the warships to wipe us out on the ground. That is going over so well for Clan Blood Spirit. And it really did good for the Jade Falcons the time they used it back in 3063. Or even the Smoked Kitties back in your people's initial drive for Terra on Edo Bay."
May just looked at the camera with a grin. "And honestly, I'd rather fight you as a mechwarrior as God intended than surrendering to you as some Capellan dog. So meet me and the forces under me in battle the right way, or just kill us now with a good dose of radiation. Because I am tired of hearing that I only have twenty four hours to live, Honey Bunches of Oats."
Raina shook her head in disgust.
"In case you want to listen, and try to comprehend: I gave you 24 hours to surrender. You know that travels between Planets and Jump points take time? Or have you forgotten? You seem to have seen much in the past.
However, your failure to show me and my Clan respect will cost you and the people under your command, how unfit you should be to command them. They will have to pay an appropriate price.
Also, I see your offer of Safcon. Accepted. I wait for the codices of your Warriors, though. You want to die in your Mech's Cockpit. We can arrange that." She closed with a slight smile.
"And the 42nd Avalon Hussars and 4th Crucis Lancers will escort you to the fate that you so rightly deserve, Khan Honey Bunches of Oats. May out."
May looked at the communications techs. "Send her some landing coordinates, and tell me did she arrive via pirate point because honestly it usually takes three days to a week to get to stable jump points. And get everything ready including my mech. It is better to die out there then to have to hear them debate their useless drabble. Seven years of this insane chatter is getting to me. Just once, I wish to hear a badly accented Combine Officer screaming for my death again."

4th Crucis Lancers
"Prepare the Landing, then. Watch out, for if there is any sign of treachery, they will die. Either by us or by our Ships's guns. I prefer the former. SaKhan Connor Rood, this is the day you have waited for. Show them what it means to be an Ice Hellion! "
Connor Rood would finally meet his destination. Fight with a real opponent. This was his finest hour.
All ships moved closer to the planet and prepared to let loose their warmachines. Hundreds of fighters joined the both Keshiks called Blinding and Lithe Kill Keshik. This would be a fight for the Remembrance.

115,75 FP Ground forces of Alpha and Beta Galaxies, (ViPs: Khan Raina Montose, saKhan Connor Rood)

Lets do that simply. But I hope for some good RP.
Rolling:
[blockquote]Rolled 2d6 : 6, 6, total 12[/blockquote]
OP: Ugh, that I would not have thought. :P
85 % damage. 146 FP damage, should be enough so far.
Rolling for possible crit: [blockquote]Rolled 2d6 : 4, 1, total 5[/blockquote]
IC: "Lair, this is Blade, we are pushing steadily, they are giving way to us." "Lair here, I acknowledge. Push north west. Mangle is already in place. They will be the anvil. Kites will pave your way. Stay mobile and watch for ambush! Lair out"
saKhan Connor Rood was visibly pleased. So far, his battle Plan worked perfectly. Raina had already congratulated him. She was in place to lead her own Cluster to flank the Davions. However, Connor could not stay here back and soon sat in his Grendel to lead the attack. So far, the mobility of the Pack seemed to have surprised that General May and they had reached every goal that Connor had designated them. However, this fight was far from over. "Lair, this is Hellfire, I need damage reports!"
[OOC: You will get some good RP, but I doubt much of a good roll.
[blockquote]Rolled 2d6 : 5, 3, total 8[/blockquote]
[Well near parity, so the Suns did 77.995 FP of damage or 65% of their FP. Plus since there was an 8; there is a chance of one critical event. Will it be interesting? Let us see because otherwise, both the 4th and 42nd die without much happening.
[blockquote]Rolled 2d6 : 3, 2, total 5[/blockquote]
OP still terrible losses.
Altogether 185.3 FP of damage.
Outcome is set, now lets role play a bit, shall we?
[And the Suns got a 5 which is [Opponent receives -1 on all future rolls this combat (CO killed). Well I guess one of the Hellion Khan just got offed just as Edwin May just died.]
Several Dagger omnifighters lay on the ground burning as Hellion aero filled the skies, Edwin May felt sick looking at the wrecks of mechs and tanks. "Damn that last shrapnel." His Falconer had been hit by barrage of missiles from Hellion aerospace. Its arms were gone little more than stumps now. His command lance was burning wrecks after the Hellions had sent waves of mechs at them along with aerospace support.
The world was getting blurry as the sensors indicated that another wave was coming. He tried to concentrate, but the neurohelmet felt so heavy. For a moment, he was back on St. Ives with his parents watching them make deals with the locals. And then he was back in the mech cockpit, his right hand moved to his side, and then he felt his stomach. "Well, I'm already dead." The hand felt the blood gushing out that had been cut by shard of autocannon shell that had shattered on impact with the cockpit.
May was on his way to death. The battle was over before it began. It was a lesson that he had long learned to never go into a pointless battle. He should have run again. It was a pointless fight, but May was so tired especially after Blackjack. All he wanted was to be home in his parent's home. But now the Sons of the Federation were dead. The 4th Crucis Lancers were dead as well after their assualt company had fallen to a rush of the so-called Pack. Admiral Bruecker had crashed, and there hadn't been any further communication. May figured that the commander of the 4th Crucis Lancers had been captured.
May with his strength ebbing looked up pressed open the communications. "This is General Edwin May of the 42nd Avalon Hussars. We are broken Clan Banshee . . .," the statement ended in coughing. The hacking continued for a moment. Blood now stained the front of the cockpit. But through the hacking, May continued to struggle to speak. "But (blaugh) you only won this batt(cough)le, and the Suns and freedom will endure, Khan Honey Bunches of Oats. (hack)"
Footsteps of the mech was barely moving in the bent backed manner. Like a drunk, it seemed to swerve. And finally the Falconer lost its footing, and it collapsed onto a burnt and crisped husk of a Behemoth that had been caught in hard bombing campaign.
In his cockpit, May hung by the restraints of his cockpit. Blood continued to drip from the lifeless body. The sound of the plopping sound of blood dripping into a pool continued till the body was found by the Hellions looking for salvage.
William Bruecker stood on the ground. He along with several other pilots had escaped their fighters. There was even a mechwarrior, but it was obvious by the flights of Hellion air that it was over. "Admiral, it appears that May has died. I just got a message from him. He sounded pretty bad," said a young Leftenant who had kept his helmet.
There was questions of what to do. "Lefteneant hand me your helmet, I need to do the right thing." William Bruecker took the helmet and set it to a open channel. "This is Admiral William Bruecker of the 4th Crucis Lancers. All surviving Federated Suns and Star League forces that are left." He doubted highly that any forces that had survived were in the battle was now in any form of fighting shape. "Surrender to Ice Hellion force. God please help our souls."
OP: Where does the battles take place? I guess not on Australarctica, but rather on the other continents, portrayed as cool but covered with pine woods and rolling hills.
Other than that: we both had not crit, as we both rolled a 5. Had either rolled 8 or more, then yes.
I am fine with your poor General dead, however, you can still change that.
IP: saKhan Connor Rood led his 200th Attack Cluster right up against the 4th Crucis Lancers. Both forces had been battered so far, while sheer numbers of Aerofighters had helped the Clan force. Air superiority had been the key to success for the Hellions. On broad front the Davions were attacked, by air and ground. Elementals wreaked havoc in their lines and fighters bombed and strafed wherever possible. The Davions gave as good as they got, though. The mostly lighter Mechs of the Ice Hellions were vulnerable when hit.
Those armor Brigades especially managed a fighting retreat, blunting several attacks by Alpha's Hellion Lancers. Those three clusters were rapidly depleted, except Aleksandr Taney's 150th, who pushed on while employing Pack Zell to the limit. When the 4th Crucis' Armored Brigade's line wavered, Connor pushed into it, with the 90th Striker Irregulars following suit. The many Battle Armors, Marcus Wick's Cluster deployed, simply tore apart the Armor. The right flank was completely disrupted and so the pincer would close around the center of the Davions.
The 7th Attack Cluster, however, not one OmniMech weighing over 55 tons, had made a flanking manouever around the left of the enemy formation and struck soon. Their defense already shaken by the Air attacks and the supply units overrun, the whole battle now turned into a one sided massacre. The core of the Davion units had been shattered.
Then General May spoke. He was dead it appeared. Raina had just finished ripping into a downed Dervish, tearing out its LRM battery, when the few standing Mechs shut down and there were indications of surrender.
Suddenly the fields turned into near silence, if one discounted the sreams and explosions. She ordered a full stop of her forces.
This battle was over. The first reports saw a heavy toll on the Hellion force. It was time to secure this world and rebuild.
OP: Damage Control: 7.25 FP.
Salvage roll: 15 % + [blockquote]Rolled 2d6 : 6, 3, total 9[/blockquote]
Your Admiral is no PC, right? Just a VIP for the Suns?
IC: "My Khan, Khans?" the Star Captain corrected himself seeing both Khans together. Connor was on foot again, while Raina still in her Battle Armor, only her faceplate was removed. "What is it, Amir?", Connor asked. "We have found the General May, Sir. He is dead." Raina turned to him: "How did he die?" "We found him in his Cockpit. His Mech was heavily damaged." The Elemental Khan nodded. He had gotten his wish. "What else?"
We have rounded up several survivors. Mostly of lower rank, but we have an Admiral William .. Bruecker. It seems he commanded the 4th Crucis Lancers, the other half of the forces.
Connor reasoned: "So the 2nd in Command then. Separate him from his people. I want to see him." "Aye, my Khan."
Raina reviewed the footage of the attack on that heavy Lance, where the Falconer, despite being pummeled from air and ground, stood fast. The rest of the Lance, drawing fire off him, destroyed far too many Hellion Mechs for her taste, but finally were taken down. The Falconer still stood, but soon crashed. That must be May. She nodded grimly. The losses for the Ice Hellions were staggering. Already the Techs swarmed over every useable piece of equipment, bringing back some of the machines and scuttling or cannibalizing others.
Many fighters had been lost as well, as the Armor Brigades had formidable Anti Air units. Nevertheless, Connor had put forth a brilliant plan. It was doubtable that any other Clan could have faired better against these two units.
She went to see that Admiral as well.
24 % salvaged. Makes 44,5 FP after rounding (44,46).
The World is now in Ice Hellion possession. Australarctica will see many Warriors wanting to take a look at a part of their icy Homeworld.
