Title: [RP/MM] Turn 3 - ND vs FWL, Trial of Possession – 2023 Hesperus II (Complete)
Post by: Fatebringer on August 17, 2011, 08:30:10 PM
A fleet of various sizes naval assets and jump ships enters the Hesperus II system. After some activity, a message is sent out to the defenders of the vaulted high production world.

An older Elemental in her mid-50's appears on the transmission, "Greetings Forces of the Free Worlds League, I am Galaxy Commander Alice Hakimi. My forces and I have traveled far to test your mettle and seek an example of what has become of the Spheroid tech. To this end, I hereby challenge you for the plans to the Atlas K2 and enough resources to start up a production line."

((I figured you probably chose this as one of your designs considering it was made on Hesperus II))

Challenge is for the plans for Atlas K2 and 5 RP

Greeting's to our Dominion Rival's whom I welcome to the Hesperus II system.

I am Admiral Consuello Graham-Marik I am prepared to meet you on the Field of Honor but since you have challenged for mech's it is only fair to extend you safcon and meet you on the ground for your trial.

I believe General Anara Belefonte stands ready to meet you on the field of honor with the command company of the 1st Free Worlds Guards (12.5 FP) we counter challenge for the specifications of the Karhu Omnimech, your ground force for the challenge may move forward under safcon.

Further since you are here and have brought such a respectable fleet ...  I challenge you to a trial of possession of one of your respectable Vanir Class Assault Dropship and it's design specifications.

I bid the FWLS Marseilles and it's supporting 2 Assault Dropship's and 5 Squadron's to defend this claim to your resources.

Ground Challenge:
1st FWL Guards 1st Battalion 1st Company 12.5 FP

Space Challenge:
FWLN Marseilles Atreus Class Battleship 17 FP

"Admiral Consuallo, We accept the counter challenge for a Karhu Omnimech, but I cannot provide the design for it nor the design for the Vanir.

There is a reason we came here to challenge you for the new Atlas designs Quiaff? This is where they are made, this is where the design is.

I do believe the Kharu will be in production before the end of the year, if you chose to utilize our diplomatic world for the trial.

We will commence the biding and get back to you shortly."

(You know me, I love a good naval battle, but this is the response you get. You also do not see any Vanir's here. )

"I am Muriel Crow, Commander of the 4th Raven Regulars. I have been told that 1st Free Worlds League gaurds are the best you have. Me and my forces have won the right to face you in honorable combat and look forward to seeing what you have. My force fields the best warriors in Clan Snow Raven outside of Alpha Galaxy! As you have not shared your force composition with us, I shall return that compliment and look forward to seeing you personally on the battlefield.

I hereby request Safcon and coordinates for the trail. Of course if Safcon isn't granted, I am certain that our fleet would be more than happy to open a whole for me and my forces. What say you?"

4th Raven Regulars - 4 Trinaries - 12 FP (I'd bid lower, except for your counterbid ;) We definately need to play this out! Should be fun)

((OOC, that formation can't possibly be a company with that much FP, even if you filled it with Elite Widowakers :P))

OOC recommendation: if you play it as every company/binary = 1 'mech in MM, it should be playable. This is how the WIE and CJF did their cluster-size trials back in the day and it worked well.

Oh dear just to be clear that 12.5 FP wasn't the battalion it WAS the company.

That is why I am infavor of rat table's and partitioning out units current FP into as many new formations of that Experience level as it take's to equal that FP.

As there are regiments, cluster's and Galaxies with rediculous amounts of FP.

Even if you picked 12 Dire Wolf Widowmakers with Elite Pilots and using the Aero System, the BV would only get you 4.5 FP wich is still closer to the 3 FP in the table than your 12.5 FP you claim you can stuff into a company :P It's more likely you have a reinforced BN.

IS Elite Dire Wolf Widowmaker 5535 * 12 = 66420 / 15000 = 4.428

You are granted SafCon Muriel Crow, my fight shall be with your Naval Commander your fight is with the Amazon's.

So long as you hold to honor, and you keep to the course you need not fear my fleet.

Though I admire your Admiral's courage and respect the fleet you have brung here, you have a better chance of a contested landing on Terra than Hesperus II without SafCon.

Fortunately for you you have it. Do try to be more respectful of your host's Muriel Crow it is a sign of good breeding.

"Respect is earned Admiral, the words of the ritual challenge show you no disrepect. We accept your offer of Safcon and are broadcasting our forces now."

We have picked the units, but have not set the date for the match. If needed we would request an extention for this match.

Two Elite Units take the field....

The 1st Free Worlds Guards
FP - 2.206

5 Points of Mechs - Clan (IS Skill) (2 Assault, 2 Heavy, 1 Medium) - All 2/3
4 Points of Mechs - IS LvL 2 (2 Assault, 2 Heavy)
2 Points of Vehicles (2 Light, 2 Light)
4 Points of BA - IS LvL 2
1 Point of BA - Clan (Actual Clanners)

4th Raven Regulars
FP - 2.116

3 Points of Mechs - (1 Assault, 1 Heavy, 1 Medium)
2 Points of Vehicles - (2 Assault, 2 Heavy)
5 Points of BA
1 Point of Protos

Total Value
12 / 12.5 = .96

Proxy Value
2.116 / 2.206 = .96

Game matches up. FWL has choice of maps.

Correction

1st Free Worlds Guards

the 1st Marik is elsewhere slapping down other's who do not know their place. :-)

*Fun fact according to Free Worlds League text books everyone's place is under our left boot heel unless otherwise specifically contradicted.

The cocky Admiral was determined to get some target practice for her fleet and a new trial was initiated with the lack of Vanir's around.

Star Admiral Brigid was true to her Mckenna bloodname, only after the deal was brockered did she reveal the bad news to Admiral Marik  "Fine, we accept the trail, you win, we provide one type of each Wusun Omnifighter. We win, you provide us with examples and the plans for all variants of your Shiva Fighter. It should serve as ample fodder for the Flying Dracon in the future. We acknowledge your bid of the FWLS Marsilles (Atreus) and I shall bring one of my newest crews to the fleet. They may not be experienced, but this will be the first opportunity to let you see what we have built with the designs you provided for us." Even thru the video feed, Brigid could see the realization sink in. She recovered well, but Brigid countered. "I see no need for us to waste time on repairs. We have incorported sufficient holotank facilities to hand this type of battle virtually. No need to spend time on costly repairs, Quiaff?" Consuella jumped at the offer. "Certainly Star Admiral." Brigid lifted her chin and grinned, the first sign of emotion from her since the negotiations began. "Fine then, Bargained well and done. Your forces shall face off against the crew from the CSRS Unkindness (Mjolnir)."

The crew of the Raven ship worked as one and made quick work of the leaguer's ECM coding while scrambling the Atreus's sensors as much as possible. The Atreus then took a thruster hit early and started veering off course, but they corrected it swiftly and took out one of the aft AC bays on the Mjolnir, sensing the path the FWL Battleship would take and knowing they wouldn't thrust to Starboard, Brigid ordered the ship to tack and match speed. As expected the Atreus took a short ranged broadside and then snuck across the bow of the Mjolnir still eating naval AC's as they went. The Mjolnir swung around and chased her. The Atreus raced off trying to outmanuever the larger and faster ship, but went into a spin. The Mjolnir chased it down and finished it. Since it was simulated, they didn't bother offering Hegira.
