Great Gorge Zenith Jumppoint
Great Gorge System

Without warning, ships began jumping in at the Great Gorge zenith point.  Aerospace fighters were released to carry out their CAP taskings, while the jumpships that had accompanied the giant Warship orientated themselves to release dropships.

With the last of the jumpships present and reporting full readiness, the Cameron class warship assumed Blockade duty while the ground force headed towards the planet, escorted the entire way by a shield of aerospace fighters and their dropships.

ooc:
Cameron class Black Prince, along with supporting aerospace assets, establish a 30FP blockade.

Ground force command intent is to destroy any Dark forces on planet.

There is no air cover and no messages come from the planet to great you.

Parmenion

Mmmm...

9.25FP in ground forces move towards the planet (51st Mechanised Cavalry).

I had 13.25FP on Naval Engagement (Offense) orders.  I'd like to move 5.75FP of that across to support the ground troops, making a planetary invasion force of 15FP.

Dave Baughman

A trinary of old Star League 'mechs supported by infantry has apparently been rampaging through the world's settlements since your forces arrived. Once Alliance forces land, they stop killing civilians and turn to face the interlopers.

1 FP of Dark Militia

simple rez

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

No crits. Undoubtedly, the Dark Militia are exterminated, but HA should still roll for crit check, etc purposes.

Horse Alliance roll...

[blockquote]Rolled 2d6 : 6, 6, total 12[/blockquote]

Parmenion

LOL... should have rolled that on behalf of Fate at Panpour  ;)

Possible crit.

Okey-dokey...

Dark does 50% of 1FP damage to the Horses = 0.5FP

Horses smear Dark forces across the paddock.  1FP destroyed.

Horses do not suffer enough damage to warrant battlefield repair.

Salvage roll...  [blockquote]Rolled 2d6 : 3, 2, total 5[/blockquote]

Parmenion

5 + 15 = 20% salvage of 1.5FP.  Equals 0.3, round down to 0.25FP in salvage.

End of battle:

Dark elements destroyed

Horse Alliance forces suffer 0.25FP damage

Galaxy Commander Unther Cooper gathers up any of the planetary leaders who are left (or who were brave enough to come out of hiding after the defeat of the Dark forces).  After a brief discussion, he leaves them to form a provisional planetary government under the banner of the Federated Suns.

Dave Baughman

It appears that Great Gorge's civilian government initially tried to cooperate with The Dark in order to spare their population from any reprisals, but the Dark reciprocated by forcing them into an increasingly appalling set of atrocities, seemingly for no purpose other than to see how far they could push the local government. When the governor finally refused to cooperate, he, his cabinet, and his immediate family were all executed.

However, shortly after liberation a number of AFFS veterans who had been hiding out in the wilderness and picking off the occasional Dark patrol come forward and set up a provisional government along the lines you described.
