The officers on the bridge of the Camel's flagship were eager to get into action, save for one small matter.  "We are not really going to continue to call this ship the Fire Mandrill, quineg?" asked Elissa Sainze, the new saKhan of the Camels.

"We must," countered Victoria Lynn, the ship's commander and commander of the Combined Fleet.  "It is bad luck to change it."

"Bad luck?" the mechwarrior scoffed.  "What does one need of luck as a Clan warrior?"

"You ask this of someone who's vessal must jump across the stars as this one does?  I have god, Elissa, and I pray before each jump, but for the ship and its crew, we must trust in fate, and in luck."  Around her, other crew nodded.  Elissa just shrugged.

"Then Fire Mandrill it will be.  Let us get this show on the road.  Antares awates."

And with that, the Camel fleet set off for the first time in its new form to take the fight to their enemies...

Camels are invading.  Some forces are on offensive interdiction, others on blockade.  I've got no idea what the protocall for this is anymore, so let me know what is needed.

Looks like you win, 12-10 (never roll that high again, I think).

Lord Harlock

[Well nuts! Again, why do I get the 12 now?]

FSS Covenant

Vice Admiral Mary-Kate Udaloy sat in the comfortable command chair that had been placed on the bridge of the Covenant class crusier. "I can't imagine being on the Robert Davion with that bridge burrowed deep inside the armor of that vessel." That was when the warning klaxons went off. "What's going on?" the Vice-Admiral asked.

"It appears an enemy force is in system."

Mary-Kate sighed. "Has the Lucien Davion Battlegroup already left?"

Her executive officer nodded. "The Lucien Davion Battlegroups left to help with the Lyrans." Mary Kate then nodded. "Open a channel." The officer then signaled when he had got the go ahead on the channel.

"Unknown forces, this is Vice-Admiral Mary-Kate Udaloy of the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns and Star League. Please identify your intentions in entering this system."

After the message went out, Mary-Kate looked at her subordinate. "Captain Hector Franks, get in contact with the Bobby D, and tell them that we have intruders."

I'm going to miss the Hotspur. She was just a recovered ancient wreck from the first Dark incursion. And now she will probably die. Well hopefully, she dies if she goes down in battle. Oh and the Covenant too if she goes down. I really hate her canon death that happened off scene and caused fans to think that AFFS naval doctrine involves ramming everything. Anyway, I'm open to proxies or simres.]

OOC: Don't speek too soon...

IC:  "Stravag," Elissa cursed.  "Thouse freebirths in the Watch have failed us again.  The fleet we expected is several jumps distant, and we face down these stravags."  She paused to try and calm herself, though she knew it was probably a lost cause.  "Star Admiral Lynn, what is your assessment."

"The Avalon is an Avalon, but a Congress and Kirishima [we've faced that class before, so I think an IC missidentification is out out of place here] bring significantly more to the table than the Fox we expected.  Shadow Stalker might be able to take them, but it might not."  Victoria nodded in summation, even as she double checked fighter complements she already knew by heart, trying to get a sense as to what the true odds were.

"Fire up our HPG, then.  Get me Amy Lynn..."

Lord Harlock

FSS Covenant

"It's just sitting there!" said Vice Admiral Mary Kate Udaloy astounded. Looking at several photos taken by cameras on board the FSS Robert Davion, she was looking at Texas Battleship. An aide then pulled out a picture with what appeared to be camel on it. "The ship has been identified as the Fire Mandril via the name on the side, but the ship computer is confused by this camel symbol."

The Admiral shook her head. "You have to be kidding me, a camel. The Suns is beset by deranged murderous psychopaths called the Dark, and now we have to deal with Camels. Unfinished Book! If a group called the Pillaging Platypi appear, I suggest that we all just head for the periphery and keep going till we are three years out."

Fatebringer

(Was there any resolution to this one? It looks like they're just sitting there staring at each other)

Iron Mongoose

That's it so far.  As we talked about in our PMs, its not clear what the best to do it, but with the end of the turn looming, I'll probably withdraw from this.

Iron Mongoose

Just to make it clear:

"Well, it settled.  We can not risk our fleet winning a useless world for the Falcons.  We can not have a repeat of the A Place debacle."

"Agreed..."

Camels depart for home.
