NIOPS VII, 0230 Hours local standard time, 3 July, 3091

Space rippled and wobbled, and into the cold void, a lone warship, flanked by common jumpships emerges.

Combat dropships, transports, escorts, assault ships and dropship carriers break from their mother-vessels, and spread out into an attack pattern.

The Warship's transit drives fire.

Over a multi-band, multifrequency broadcast, in the open, uncoded, a single phrase echoes.

"Kali-Mah!! Kali-Mah!!!"

The Liberation of NIOPS has begun.

Lets start with some initiative action...

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Aboard CSS Durga...

"...about how long do we have to run that silly damn chanting over broadband?" Comms officer Nelson Fried asked.

"As long as it takes to freak them out-or not, doesn't matter-the tape's part of the mission, some brightboy up in high command thinks that we can use the Reputation of her majesty's thugee cultists as a morale-threat."  Zong Jiang Derek Trenthouse answered, "Personally, I think it's silly, but I'm paid to fight the ship, not play mind-games."

There is at least one other faction coming to join in the fun, so we'll need to wait for their init before continuing.

[ooc]I'm good now.  I just wanted to be the player to kick it off and do some craziness-the craziness is now initiated, and I'm happy.

Greeting's Star Admiral.

The Free Worlds is here to offer friendly and honourable trials for various Spirit Cat possessions in this system. We have no knowledge of the other force in this system and they are not apart of our bid or our request for SafCon.

Challenging for your Beta Naval Star is the 74th FLWN Group.

(OOC: Capellans and FWL arrive at the same time)

"Free Worlds League task force, this is Niops ground control. We acknowledge your batchal, however your timing is curious. Only days earlier our security forces put down a spheroid plot to raise an insurgency on our planet, and now your allies have arrived - seeming by coicidence," the quote-unquote around the last word are clearly audible, "to attack us during your trial."

"If you wish to prove your honor and worthiness to issue trial challenges, we require that you destroy the Capellan forces currently burning for our planet. This will prove to us that you are not in league with those madmen."
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Verifying receipt of your last transmission Niops control. The Free World's fight's it battles as warriors not as sneak thieves and bandit's.

We also as ture warriors fight our own battles. We have nothing to do with the Capellan deployment in this system.

Or your recent trouble with rebel's.

The Free Worlds has accepted and offered fair trial's to your Clan since almost before you were decanted I would wager.

We have proven our worthiness and will not fight your battles for you. If this is Spirit Cat Space and you are a warrior you are more then welcome to defend your claim aganist the Capellan's, before facing my warriors.

We will gladly hold position at the jump point, while you deal with the challenge you are experiencing from the Capellans as is your normal manner.

But our challenge's much as our honor stands.

"well, they're negotiating." Zong-jian Derek Trenthouse observed, "We knew they would, anyone surprised?"  The looks around the bridge of the Durga showed that, indeed, nobody expected any differently.

"what does this mean, sir?"

"It means, we soften the Kitties up, and the Leaguers get to finish them off.  All vessels to flank, I do NOT want them to get a Blockade up before the landing forces are in position, and all stations stand by-we're going to get killed, but we are Cappellan, and we'll take a lot of these bastards with us before we go down."

"Sir, we don't stand a chance."  his Executive officer pointed out.

"If we don't do this, our families back home don't stand a chance." Derek replied, "You're unmarried, I have a wife, four children, and eight grand-children.  I would rather die before them, than after."

Dave Baughman

To the FWL

"Transmission acknowledged and understood. We shall resume our discussions once the Capellans are dealt with."

Meanwhile...

Delta Naval Star detaches from orbit and moves to intercept the Capellan force

Given the stability problems MegaMek has historically had with fighter-heavy engagements, I'm assuming this fight is going directly to simple rez? If so, lets roll this bad boy out.

I honestly think my odds are better in Megamek/megaaero, in spite of the problems.  I know it's a loser situation, but the chances are stronger of leaving a lasting impression that way, than by way of simpres.

Okay...got the trial with Chaos on saturday, that's probably going to be balanced, in spite of my lack of skill.  Try for Sunday evening? (Picking up a truck on sunday morning...)

MOC will arrive in operational round 2 (probably right after Delta fights the Cappies)
