With the fall of Coventry and Alarion, there were few Adder strongholds left. The Lyrans had effectively broken the Star Adders' naval backbone at Vorzel, and now they were determined to push their advantage by taking down the last of the Adder industrial centers south of Sudeten. Loxley would take the brunt of the assault forces from Coventry, but the Lyrans were becoming ever more cautious. It was only a matter of time before the Adders' resistance finally stiffened.

When the Lyran fleet arrived in the Loxley system, it appeared that the Adders would finally offer atleast some token resistance. Almost as soon as the Lyran fleet had materialized, they were challeneged.

"Attention Lyran invaders, this is Star Admiral Andrei Columbo, SACS Firefly, Loxley Defense Fleet. Your aggression and chalcas actions have gone far enough. I bid in defense of this system, all the warships, dropships and aerospace fighters under my command, to repel you from this place. Should we win, you will not enter this system for a period of 6 months. If you attain victory, we shall turn the world over to you. What say you?"

"Star Admiral, this is Hauptman-Kommandant Hans Kruger, LAS Tharkad, commander of the fleet you see before you. We have no need to enter this foolish bidding of yours this time, your son of a whore. You Clan bastards have ground my people under their feet for far to long, and I will be more than happy to blow your pathetic fleet to ash!"


CSA sets up in Defensive Interdiction, LA fleet moves to Naval Engagement.

Apollo and Tharkad are threatened. Both rolled a 5 so they have equal priority for direct damage.

Apollo is sunk.
Tharkad survives.

LC fleet regains 1.00 FP from damage control.

More on account of massive aerial carpet-bombing and flooding the field of battle with hundreds of tanks than through valor, the Lyrans managed to wipe out the CSA defenders in a massacre of truly horrifying proportions. In the final phases of the battle, saKhan Lynn lead the few remaining forces on a desperate retreat to the one starport still in Adder hands. The exodus quickly became a latter-day "highway of death" as Lyran fighters pounded the column with cluster and inferno bombs night and day. When it was over, nothing lived in almost a kilometer radius.

When they finally found Amy Lynn's body, DBC correspondents were ready to broadcast the charred corpse to the Sphere; perhaps fortunately for all involved, LCAF censors took one look at footage and refused to allow its release.
