Space ripped open revealing dozens of dangerous shapes around the world of Sappir, all showing the menacing emblem of Clan Spirit Cats.

"Defenders of Sappir, the Spirit Cats are here for your world, lay down your arms and you will not be harmed!"

Warships too position around the world, while hundreds of dropships and fighters burned to the world.

37.5 FP oppose.

Colonel Briggs looked up. "We'll never make it through that warship screen. All units, buy time for the HPG to warn sector HQ! The cats are on the move again! Damn those Combine bastards to a dozen hells for letting them loose!."

Whoa.. sorry guys.  Can we pause for a bit.  I just noticed this thread, and I'm sure that there are SLDF assigned forces on world.

Question... is there a blockade in place?

Holt

[mmmmk, on hold. no on the blockade, but their is an offensive interdiction unless asf in the system shows up.]

Parmenion

OK... I'm home now and checked.  Yes, there is a SLDF ASF element (including a warship) and also a SLDF ground force garrisoning the planet.

Can the GMs give some guidance on what should be done in regards this?

Of note... part of the SLDF ground force is training up this cycle, so can they still commit to combat, if required, forgoing their RP training cost?

(sorry about this Holt.  My stuffup)

Holt

[No problem on anything, want to forget everything that happened and start the thread over?]

Parmenion

Since the system is Lyran territory, I think we should gain a Lyran comment on this proposal to restart the thread.

Although, since the two forces entering and exiting the system under stated movement orders have already rolled, then those results should stand (in my opinion).

As an aside, as per the ASF rules:

QuoteDefensive Interdiction
Type: Special
Requirement: Aerospace units
Effect: Successful interdiction prevents attacking transports from landing their troops. This is the default combat order for defensive aerospace and naval forces, and may be changed before the engagement if the defending player so chooses. If an interdiction is cancelled, there is nothing to stop the transports from landing.

Note: Naval Engagement or Break Interdiction orders can be used to penetrate interdiction. If 25% of the interdiction force is destroyed, the interdiction fails and is no longer effective.

Offensive Interdiction
Type: Special
Requirement: Aerospace units
Effect: Successful interdiction prevents defending transports from retreating from a system. Offensive Interdiction is only possible where no hostile forces are on interdicton, blockade, or naval engagement orders.

Note: Naval Engagement or Break Interdiction orders can be used to penetrate interdiction. If 25% of the interdiction force is destroyed, the interdiction fails and is no longer effective.

The way I read it is if the defenders commit an ASF element to defensive interdiction, then all ground forces can safely flee.  Is this still correct?

#12
LC forces (based on post #1) appear to have committed to battle.
DC forces have committed to withdraw (per their orders and initiative)

CSA forces committed to battle but may have to contend with defensive interdiction against their landings.

So it appears that all that remains is for the SLDF to commit their orders. Since all CSC forces were committed to the attack, there appears to be nothing to prevent an SLDF withdrawal if they want to leave the elsies high and dry - unless I have overlooked something.

Regarding the trainees: Trainees cannot initiate combat, but they can defend if attacked. Unless I wrote otherwise in the rules... break is ending so I don't have time to check :(
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

OOC: Pretty sure he means CSC not CSA as there are no CSA forces at Sappir this cycle ;)

+1 for "what he said"
