Merc question

Having read the merc RP, I find myself wondering how the factions will vie for the various commands and their contracts.  Do we have a system in place for that?  If not, has anyone ever tried an auction draft?  $200, sixteen slots.  Say the CC really wants the Big MAC.  He puts a really high value on them(say $50).  Gregg's Long Striders receive a much lower bid(say $10).  But the basic idea is, we all get the same list of mercs, put in our bids to Daemonknight, and then the various bids are just combined into a list showing who bid how much for what unit.  Any state making the bids would have to be able to have the ability to pay for their mercs, so if they get ones they can't pay for, they can drop the commands they can't afford.

Apologies if there's already a simple and easy system in place, but it seemed like a neat idea since we're starting from scratch, so to speak.

There is indeed a system in place. What happens is I'll list all the merc commands in a special stickies thread. I'll list their name, their component units(if multi-regiment strength), and ther total FP. Then when contract bidding opens, factions can post their bids.

Now, what I MIGHT do, is have factions list on their orders, the MINIMUM and BEST contract. Then before the turn ends, post which faction has the leading bid- but not what the bid is. Factions would have one last chance to post a bid they think will win away the command.

The normal method was just everyone posts a bid, and factions can repost higher bids untill the end of the turn, when the highest bid(or potentially a lower bid with a more compelling contract) gains the contract, according to the contract. More on that later however.
