The ASF in system has not been put on Defensive Interdiction, the 5 FP of Randis ASF you stated as running away with the civilians and the 2.5 FP of CPS did not declare. In fact you suggested to Jeyar that he send his ASF with yours to run away http://intelser.org/forums/index.php?topic=404.msg5073#msg5073. Which is it? Are the Randis ASF running with/without the CPS ASF or not? Are they on Defensive Interdiction with/without the CPS ASF? We need to straighten out what you are doing with the these forces.

Now, I've been a secondary guy for most of these past round of rules changes, so I'm not 100% clear on how things are done these days.

But looking at the Offensive Interdiction rules, I see this (emphasis mine):

QuoteOffensive Interdiction
Type: Special
Requirement: Aerospace units
Effect: Successful interdiction prevents defending transports from retreating from a system. Offensive Interdiction is only possible where no hostile forces are on interdicton, blockade, or naval engagement orders.

Given the 7.5 FP of forces on defensive interdiction (the defualt orders) one imagines that so long as these forces continue to interdict (that is to say, fight their hopeless battle and die) then the other, fluffed non-combat forces can escape (along with any CPS forces intrested in running as well).

Does that seem to be the current status of the rules in this matter?

((OOC: It would mean that because you have forces defensivly interdicting the area, your fluff- Noncombatants are able to escape. In incoming enemy is forced to deal with your defensive interdiction before they can do anything else. Atleast, thats what the rules seem to imply))
"My only regret is that I will not be alive in .03 seconds. I would have liked to watch the enemy attempt to vent an omnidirectional thermonuclear blast enveloping their outpost."

I think you can see this.  Yes, the on paper order is to run, but that's because I was not sure if the method of running is blockade running, interdiction breaking, or if all that is needed is to stand and fight to facilitate the running.  Under the older rules, after all, with out a blockade I could have simply slipped any amout of force I wished to out of the system.  Under these rules, now that I have come to understand them, this seems to be the method of running.  My post was, as much as anything, just an attempt to see that I had the right idea, so that I could issue orders with a correct understand of the rules.  If that understanding is correct, let me amend my orders to this:

The Randis ASF will facilitate the running of all other escapees (civilians, money, any CPS forces wishing to leave) by fighting, and if able to will run once the other forces are safely away (either back to the surface or into space, as possible).  Since the battle looks like hopeless, CPS air forces are welcome to leave with the civilians, to escort them to friendly space, though are welcome to join the fight as well.

OOC: Please see below and let me know if I have misunderstood anything.

Randis Orders:

  • Wings of Maradonna use Naval Engagement to prevent offensive interdiction
  • Civilians, faction treasury, and any allied military who choose to leave use Withdrawal Orders
  • Randis military ground forces are on Defense orders

Is anyone on defensive interdiction to prevent the Dark's ground forces from landing (COPS aerospace maybe?)

Also, any IC response to the transmissing from the Dark?
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

This is accurate.  I would expect that Taurian forces would either run or join the battle, so there would be no interdcition against ground forces

Mokusatsu.

Difrent cherictor.  Its: 黙殺  I enjoy the more direct translation kill with silence, though it means largely to ignore.  It was famously used in WWII by the Japanese government.

Assuming that IM has the rules right, then the CoPS forces are booking with the civilians and providing escort...

The Knight fighters fought with vigour, but they had no experiance against warships and it showed.  Though they were able to identify and single out the enemy Wagon Wheel, large numbers of Dark fighters and the powerful defences of the warships prevented them from doing meaningful damage.

They did however pose enough of a threat that the Dark had to focus their attentions on the fighter attack, and were out of position to oppose the Randian refugees.  The Taurian fighter wing escorted them to the jump point, and then out of the system.

The Knights were alone now, they knew.  No help could reach them, at least with out strong warship support.  All that was left was to show the enemy what the cost was of tangeling with the Knights of Randis.

Dave Baughman

SJS Interdictor shuddered as a lone Randian heavy fighter broke through her screen to strafe the gray-painted Wagon Wheel. On the command deck, Paul Moon shook his head in dismay.

Not as impressive a response as I had hoped for Lucas, thought Paul Moon, but at least it shows you are still a warrior.

"Message from Nova Hawk, Galaxy Commander," called out an operator somewhere to Moon's right, "Randis convoy was able to transit the jump point before interception."

Paul Moon had swallowed Lucas Becket's defiance with composure, but the failure of his fighter forces to reach the fleeing enemy transports was too much. Grabbing the noteputer that was velcroed to his command chair, he hurled it towards the comm station with vengeance.

"Stravag cowards!" he spat, "they rob me of my isorla even as they make a pretense of fighting? And after I offer them mercy? They will not spit in my face a second time. Summon the ground forces commanders to the bidding room - it is time to crush these scum."

404 Volunteer Cluster (10.5 FP V/F ground forces) wins the bidding and attacks the planet.

I presume the Knights of Randis defend?
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Iron Mongoose

10.5 FP of Knights defend.  Remaining forces are presumed to be ICE tanks, escorting civilians out of the big cities.

I can MM any weekday morning (though it will be slow if there's a world cup game on, especaly tomarrow since its Japan, which is the homeland of my ancestors).
