Star Commodore Allison watched with a satisfied expression as the first dropships reached Randis' atmosphere. The Knights of Randis may have won a small victory evacuating their Coalition allies, but soon, she thought, they would regret their defiance.

Allison's musing was interrupted by the voice of the sensor operator, "Star Commodore, new contact at the Nadir Jump Point. JumpShip, Invader-class, no IFF signal. Drive signature is not on record."

Before the Star Commodore could respond the communications officer added, "Receiving a laser transmission from the unknown vessel, Star Commodore."

Allison frowned, "Patch it through to my headset," she said in an even tone.

A few moments later she looked over at the commo station, "Relay the signal to Interdictor. This may be of interest to the Galaxy Commander."
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

RP to follow from Dave. Thread is locked until that time. Salvage and wrap up will happen in the morning when I get up.

Paul Moon's new bondsman strode several steps behind the powerful Clan warlord as the two left the confines of the DropShip to emerge onto a raised boarding platform. Below, Dark OmniMechs paced the perimeter while armored elementals set about the process of registering the dozens - hundreds - thousands of civilians being bussed in from the nearby city.

The Star Captain who greeted Moon could only be called a man in the most generous of terms. Eyes glinting with a feral light, the child was perhaps fourteen years old - fifteen at a stretch; the sidearm at his waist, however, was very real. As was handcuffed man in Randis vestments standing behind him.

"Star Captain Felix," Moon said cooly, "where is Galahad Frews?"

The boy straightened, "ovKhan, I regret to inform you that Galahad Frews fell in battle against our superior forces. Please accept this lesser prize, Knight Commander Thomas Olindo, as my surkai." The young man bowed gravely before his commander.

Paul Moon's expression did not slip, but his voice took on the character of ice, "Star Captain," he spoke slowly, "you were given specific orders to bring me Galahad Frews alive. Why have you failed me?"

"Galaxy Commander," the child spoke quickly now, "we made every effort to capture Galahad Frews. He perished when a gauss rifle hit his cockpit directly. It was a luck shot-"

"A lucky shot?" demanded Moon, letting anger slip through momentarily, "you fail me, and then attempt to disguise your incompetence as a lucky shot?"

"Bondsman Vincente," Moon said as he unbuttoned the flap on his holster, "this officer has disobeyed a direct order, and he has shown weakness. Demonstrate to me what you have learned of the ways of our Clan," he finished as he offered the laser pistol to his prisoner.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Remember Vincente never let them know your mind remains your own and they can't have it. Contractions think in them never say them.

Vincente gave the young child a warm and inviting smile which only seemed to confuse Star Captain Felix the more as Vincente then took two quick steps and pistol whipped the child warrior to the ground. Taking especial care to bring his left heel down on the gangly teen's sidearm hand before on the back swing bringing the pistol he had just been given by Paul Moon bare between the eyes of the young Star Captain.

"Now Star Captain Felix were I you the Inner Sphere Surat before me would be dead right now. Of course were I you I would not have failed in completing the orders of my ovKhan. So the comparison is really flawed from the beginning."

Grinding his left heel even further into the young mans hand then pivoting his weight to deliver a hard stomp kick to the Star Captain's nose, then quickly dropping down to retrieve Star Captain Felix's side arm. Before hopping up and placing three precise shots one in the throat, one through the right side chest above the third rib, and the final one in the until now un-ruined left hand of the Star Captain, Prompting gasps of horror from the Randian Knights currently present in chains.

Oh no not more of these Knight madmen as if I don't have to put up with enough of them on Atreus, the boy's a child pirate soldier, I don't give a fig for how 'hard his life has been', or his 'culture', he kills, tortures and when old enough rape's like any other miserable pirate If I get to eliminate the miserable little toerag before he gets a chance to be about the third I will cry no tears at his early passing and neither would any of his present or future victims. As if this is the first time you 'Knights of Randis' have handed a pirate over to the people of a world in the Periphery what did you think they did with them? Gave them so milk and cookies and told them not to be such a bad boy? Congratulation boys your in the Periphery, we kill people here and sometimes there not above the magic age of 18-20, in other news the Pope remains New Avalonian. If there is one good thing about this whole mess the Dark don't much care how I do away with the scum out here. Well as long as there usually not Dark Scum but one thing at a time.

Paul Moon gazed hardened on Vincented and said "I asked you show what you have learned of our ways and yet you do not finish him Vincente"

" ovKhan if I may, I have finished him even before we began I am afraid the child is permanently infected with...compassion, yes cowardice by another name surely. If he were a true warrior of the Dark even with the wounds I have given him he would attempt to rise and kill me. He does not, for he is not of the Dark, the Jaguars heart does not beat in his chest, he fear's and so he is prey. Already he coughs up blood and even now behind me clutches at his wounded chest, he thinks only of his pain and not how to deliver pain upon his foe, he is lost to us he is PREY, he will be dead within the hour, sooner if he manages to remember the warrior spirit of the Dark to rise and come at me. After all I have left him both of his legs."

Paul Moon only continued to stare at his Bondsmen betraying nothing of his thoughts. As such Vincente choose to continue.

"...This is what I have been taught of the Dark. You asked what I have learned of our ways, and what I have learned is this. Through his failure to carry out your orders he has forfeited his place in the Clan, you gave him a chance to win it back in combat with me, he has now failed you twice but thrice. His failure to bring you the Knight, his failure to fight me as a warrior of the dark, and his failure to die with honor as a warrior in augmented combat through these failures he has shown the Jaguars heart does not beat in his chest and that he is truly prey, so he will die as prey not the quick death a pouncing Jaguar gives a fellow predator, but the lingering one of the prey beast so that the meat may remain fresh. Given my previous experience with periphery trash as a member of the 6th Orloff Grenadiers I give him another hour or more of pain as he tries to breath through the  cauterized hole in his throat, as his right lung fills with charred blood. Were I had a knife I could make his punishment truly memorable. However if I have been to soft let me perform surkhai by starting on his eyes, I will leave his softest parts for last..better suited to a knife but a pistol can work wonders if one is inventive enough. I remain your humble bondsmen in all things my ovKhan."

Dave Baughman

Paul Moon considered his bondsman for a moment, stroking his chin in thought.

"I see you are more perceptive than I gave you credit for, Vincente. This is good. It seems we have a number of things to discuss in private once the business of the day is attended to."

The communicator at Moon's belt crackled Flame stars three and four are in position, Galaxy Commander. Standing by for your command. On the field below, the milling mass of civilian captives were now ringed by perimeter of flamer-armed Elementals.

"Now, Vincente, we have some vermin to exterminate."

Knight Commander Olivo visibly paled, "Galaxy Commander, I beg you - I was promised that if I surrendered my people would be spared! You cannot do this!"

Moon glanced at the dying Star Captain in disdain, "Useless trashborn," he spat, "Is there anything you have not disobeyed me in?!"

Composing himself, Moon turned to the knight, "I was very clear in my warning to your order. I gave you all the opportunity to surrender and serve the Dark, for which the people of this world would be spared. Instead, you chose to fight so that some number might flee."

"However, the Dark do not break their word. As I understand it, you lead the surrender of a tenth of Knights of Randis. Thus, I will spare the condemned in proportion to your surrender."

"Bondsman Vicente, take the prisoner to the landing field and supervise him while he selects one in ten of the condemned to survive," turning back to Olivo he continued, "I will issue orders to the other execution teams to make similar allowances. Such is the mercy of the Dark."
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

OOC Status Report on remaining Randis forces

The 0.75 FP of Randis tanks are alive, but are not game mechanically on Guerilla Warfare orders as they have not yet participated in combat. These troops are spread out across the planet and are helping clusters of civilians elude capture by The Dark.

IM, please let me know if these troops are going to do anything special or unusual; otherwise, the Dark is eventually going to run them to ground during Operational Round 3. As with the Op Round 2 fight, the Dark will deploy a reasonably sized force in MegaMek so we can get a good fight instead of a curbstomp.

The roleplaying events currently occuring take place a few days before the start of Op Round 3, so Chaos if you would like to continue your RP please feel free - then we can move on to the next stage of combat.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Iron Mongoose

Well, fighting against long odds is quite unusual in an of its self, but not I think for Knights of Randis.

Mostly likely, they'd have been listening in on Randian radio during the battle and know of the death of Lucas Beckett and Galahad Fewes, so they would attempt to get that message out, either by sending someone to the local HPG station coverly, or sending a very small unit (probably 0FP of infantry) to it, or simply a radio broadcast.  Most likely all three things.

And then, they'd fight.  Though whoever proxies this (if I can't do it personaly) contact me.
