The last Jump Ship was away before the Dark entered the system.

From the cockpit of his Hermes II, Swartz Lonestar tracked the departures and arrivals. There was no doubt in his mind from the day he signed the papers thirteen years ago to defend this rock that this day would come. He checked the loadout on his pistol. From what he'd heard about the Jags, he didn't want to be taken prisoner. He knew this land well, if he got clear, he'd make for the rendeavous. But it was his job to make sure that others got to get the chance to get there first. The dark would be here soon enough. He leaned back in his chair and played the radio on the mech's external speakers for his men. Knowing he was there fro them seemed to help morale.
