"General Cotzee, this is Defiance control. Duke Brewer and the board of directors are discussing your proposal. They are requesting a four hour cease-fire to deliberate."
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Hesperus II

"You tell Duke Brewer he has one hour, Board of Directors be damned.  He is in revolt against his leige lord. Cotzee out." He opened a channel to Marik-dos. "Marik Dos we're taking up positions to support you and to hit the complex. hang in there."

(OOC: OK, this is not, repeat not, the final Castle Brian rules but this is going to be something of a ultra-rough-first draft.)

Castles Brian and other super-fortifications
Game mechanically, being protected by a Castle Brian functions like guerilla warfare, except the 10 FP maximum force size limit does not apply. Once per turn, the attacker may attempt to penetrate the defenses on a 10+ on 2d6; otherwise, the attackers are repelled by the static defenses and the defenders take damage based on a single roll on the Guerilla Warfare chart.

Unlike normal guerilla warfare, the static defenses also damage the attacker; the attackers - regardless of whether or not they penetrate the defenses - take damage according to a roll on the Guerilla Warfare chart.

Special Scenario
By storming the complex while survivors are still trickling in, there is an increased possibility that the attackers will be able to get at least some of their forces past the static defenses before they fully come online.

Roll once for each of the three attacking regiments (instead of once for the entire attacking force) and apply a +4 bonus on the roll, representing the temporary vulnerability of the facility.

Update - the special scenario only applies to any units that attempt to blitz the complex during its period of vulnerability.

Before making any rolls for the assault on the complex, please post the current FP (reflecting battle damage) of all ground forces in theatre so I can appropriately apply the results of the static defenses roll.

Beta-2-2 Forward Hot Drop Zone 1km South of Defiance Industries, Hesperus II

Over a Combined Arms Regiment of Mechs, tanks and foot infantry with fenrir support had already poured out of the Defiance Factory and begun advancing on Beta-2-2's position.

"Mechwarrior Martinez you will hold your Anvil's TAG gear on the Elsie Advance or by God if we live I will have you up before a courts martial and dancing from a rope shortly thereafter!"

" Captain Tennet if I maneuver my Anvil to nav Gamma to the hill designated Nav Gamma I should be able to support our..."

"You will do nothing Martinez but maintain that TAG lock and not die before fire on target is confirmed! Rest of Beta-2-2...full advance we get in we put that Hauptmann and his Blitzy pals down we pull back the rest of that force is too slow or doesn't have the range to be anything more then a speed bump for us, 1st is obviously meant to fight in the mountains or up close in that factory. Lets show them what happens when they got to fight a force that can move!

"White Sabers on me! Time to add another Regimental Banner of the 1st Elsies to the wall of Honors on Atreus!"

Beta-2-2 Drop zone, Now Forward position of 12th Atrean Dragoons.

"Dammnit Cotzee we've got to go in and we've got to go now! The thrice damned El...traitors are on the ropes!"

"If we don't go in for the kill now while their trying to retreat back in on your head be it if we are stuck outside this mountain for months if not years laying siege painting it red in the blood of our men!"

"Give the order, Brewers not only a traitor but a complete headcase who brought this down on his own world. The board of directors can explain to Duke Robert how they had nothing to do with it AFTER we liberate Defiance Industries."

Perhaps the defenders confused the 5th Royals for additional survivors trickling in from the 11th Lyran Regulars - exactly why the hardened blast doors didn't close in time would probably never be known exactly - but the 5th Royals made it into the fortress.

That didn't mean they didn't take losses in the process though... defenses ranging from sandbagged machine guns up to turrets built from Fafnir torsos, Defiance Industries did its level best to repel the invaders.

Facing worse than 3:1 odds after the dust settles, the Defiance Industry security forces surrender.

Duke Brewer and his senior corporate staff attempt to escape, but will need a 10+ due to the encirclement of the complex.
