Other than a few low-power civilian radio signals being picked up by your forces, Nyserta is silent.

Troops land. As always, a force after the other.

No opposition. There are a few ragged-looking paramilitary police maintain public order, but there are no signs of any warrior caste or even scientist or high-ranking merchant personnel.

Nyserta is then about to be integrated into the merciful embrace of the Ice Hellion Empire. (made that up)

Rose oversaw the needed work, at least public order had been maintained by the paras. She would congratulate them in a planet wide message and before would get a message to Clan Command about this.. she had hoped to kill some more traitors, but at least now hopes were up to get to the front.

As unlikely as it was to attack, the fluctuation of the war would make contact likely.

Once things have calmed down, the police have an interesting story to tell: apparently on October 3rd, planetary defense HQ detected a large number of transport dropships coming in from a pirate transit point. Suspecting an attack from the brutal 'Border Rievers' who have been terrorising some of the other outer systems in the area, the local PGC mobilized to intercept the raiding force at their projected drop zone.

They were never heard from again.

A few days later, large numbers of cargo transports under 'Mech escort rolled into all of the major settlements and raided a number of science caste facilities, taking with them everything that wasn't bolted down. Other than one instance where the paras tried to stop them and became involved in a blood (and fairly one-sided) gun battle, the raiders did not harm the civilian population at all.

Then, after removing a handful of key components* from the local HPG, the raiders up and left. Orbital telescopes never did spot their JumpShip, but the police commander suspects it was hiding at a stable lagrange near one of the outer gas giants.

After the fact, something curious was discovered: about half of the planet's science caste, plus all of the high-ranking technician and merchant caste members, were missing. How they disappeared is unclear, but the mystery raiders are suspected.

*easily replaced by the Hellion forces but not present in local stocks, meaning the planet was interdicted until you showed up, but is now back online.

Rose, who had just received news she would take part in the Bloodname tournament for her gene-mother, was wondering, what this was all about.

Of course, a report was sent to Clan Command with her annotations, accusing the Scorpions for being traitors, evacuating all evidence before the might of hers and the true Clans.

But there would be interviews as long as they were here, especially with survivors of the Clash with those mystery people.

Perhaps someone saw who they were?

The left over highest rankers would also be talked to. Would they know something? At least the HPG worked better now than before.

Based on the Hellions' initial investigation, it looks ike the raiders were either Clan forces or very well-equipped Inner Sphere or Pirates. They had old Clan OmniMechs (Timber Wolf, Mad Dog, etc.) and appear to have avoided contact with the locals as much as possible.

OOC: If you want to investigate further, especially trying to squeeze info out of the remaining high ranking civilian caste members, run an Investigation order next turn. Your level of success will reveal how much you learn.
