Title: [RP-Combat Ops] Turn 4 CJF vs CIH - 1915 Morges, Invasion [Complete]
Post by: Daemonknight on September 15, 2011, 02:57:43 PM
Having their first assault repelled had only served to infuriate the Falcons into attacking with a larger force. They would not be denied so easily. As was common in this conflict, there was no batchall given, simply a large landing force was assembled.

Final Defense Line
Planet Morges
4 August 3091

"Ten... twenty... ... many Jade Falcon 'Mechs incoming, Star Captain."

"Alpha Striker, you will protect the sibkos until the evacuation is complete. Fall to the last if you must, your genes will live on and your glory will be told in the Remembrance."

"Aff, ovKhan. We shall make the Falcon invaders pay for their trespass against us!"

Jade Falcon DropShip Screaming Hawk
En Route to Assault Drop

Galaxy Commander Meagan Malthus checked the weapons status on his Flamberge for the fourth time as the drop alarms growled in his cockpit. As the massive Overlord-C pulled in for a textbook hover drop on top of the Hellion vermin's defense line its 'Mech bay doors opened to reveal the green fields below shrouded in smoke and the flashes of weapons fire. And then she...

Timber Wolf IH-3573-UC22

MechWarrior Andrew's 'Mech reeled as yet another Falcon 'Mech opened fire on it. Bleeding coolant from a dozen ruptures and with its missile pods blown off, the Timber Wolf B was rapidly running out of options. Worse, the readouts revealed that only one round was left for its main weapon - a powerful gauss cannon. Spraying a nearby Falcon Jupiter with his large pulse laser, Andrew got ready to make the best of his last gauss slug when the roar of a DropShip tore thorugh the air.

Glancing up, Andrew saw the bright green Overlord and - as much from reflex as concious action - raised his cannon and fired at the airborne vessel.

Engineering Four, CJF Screaming Hawk

"What the freebirth was that?!" demanded Chief Engineering Technician Donna as a decidedly menacing howl filled the engineering compartment.

"Savashri! Fusion Two just spiked to three hundred percent. Chief, she's going to 'pole!"

"Damn, damn, damn, escape pods! Everyone ou-"

One moment, she was watching the tiny figures of 'Mechs below, then she saw the almost invisible silver streak and then - seemingly a fraction of a second later - Galaxy Commander Malthus was tumbling through the air, blue flames licking at he 'Mech and then the fire was everywhere and...

When the enormous Jade Falcon DropShip exploded in mid-air, the battle halted - but only for a heartbeat. Suddenly, the Hellions were counterattacking, inspired by their unlikely turn of fate and filled with a desire for revenge.

Thrown into confusion by the loss of their commanders and taken off-guard by the Hellions' fiercely-renewed attack, the Falcon invaders withdrew to their landing zones. A week later, planetary defense command confirmed the jump signatures of the Falcon transport fleet activating their hyperdrives.

For now at least, Morges had been saved again by the valor of her warriors, though few remained to relish the victory.

CIH opts for automatic victory.

2.75 FP of the CIH force survives due to damage ceiling

CJF suffers 14.50 FP and is forced to withdraw
