22 December 3089 - 2 January 3090
Solaris VII Winter International Open Tournament
In celebration of the holiday season and the coming new decade, the Solaris Games Commission have arranged for a series of team events to be fought between the various national teams. Proceeds will all go to international relief efforts across the Sphere, so the real prize is prestige to the victorious factions.
OOC - Rules
Any faction can participate in the tournament. Battles are between bottom-level units of the same type (skill level and tech level, if applicable, should be determined by mutual agreement of the players). To determine the composition of the units in play, roll on the Isolated Units chart.
Normal map selection rules apply, but players are encouraged to use Solaris Arena maps. Planetary Condition rolls are optional, but encouraged for fights in the Davion Arena (which can simulate these conditions).
To determine victory points from each match, use the "Battle" scoring rules.
Since this is Solaris, warriors will generally concede rather than fight to the death. Forced withdrawal rules (per Total Warfare) are in effect; any unit that qualifies for forced withdrawal will surrender - eject or abandon the unit to remove them from play (the unit is scored as destroyed).
Each faction should keep track of its accumulated victory points, as they are pertinent to determining the winner of the event.
Simple Resolution should not be used for this event, as the purpose is to play out these matches in MegaMek.
No unit improvements apply for these matches.
Rewards
While there is no in-game cash payout (proceeds are being donated to charity), factions can earn build points by reaching certain achievement milestones:
Participate in the Tournament: 1 build point
Win at least one Tournament battle: +1 build point (2 total)
Score in the top three factions: +3 build points* (5 total)
Win the tournament: +5 build points* (10 total)
*If less than 3/5 factions total participate, reduce the award by the difference, to a minimum of +2 each. Example: If only three factions particpate, the prize for scoring in the top 3 is still worth +3 build, but the grand prize is reduced from +5 to +3.
Reporting
All matches should be reported in this thread for the factions involved to receive credit.
I'm highly interested in participating in this for the Regulan League though I still need to communicate with Generalstoner for unit info! Anyone that is also interested, let me know so we can get the details hammered out!
The Lyrans are in...Duh!! :P
Me and WilliamDavion are thinking in fighting some matchs, when ICChan gives him the OK. And them, i will KO him. ;P
I am in. I am always up for some MM.
-Josh
I will be part of this. Good training to bring up my MM skill....which is nill :'(
I hope you do it better than last time, Mekorig... My Sowrd will cut your bullhead like a hot knife cuts trought butter.
I would not mind trying my luck.

Bla bla Bla, all talk and no accion Fedrat, we will see who is the best in the Arena!
Pity that we didn't took pictures of our last 3025 tech battle...well. better for you: 4 kills against 0 is not a good result.
You got the tipical Fedrat`s luck, nothing more. :P ;) ;D
Lots of talk and not enough action.
Eric Malan will celebrate his return to S7 and Galahad stables by challenging any all comers (evenings EST or anytime this Sunday). Any and all matches will be championing the honor of the one true Free Worlds League: the Marik-Tamarind Commonwealth.
(PM / IM ahead of time to make sure I'm not painting T-26s for a FoW tournament ;) )
And the first match of this grand event is scheduled to begin this fine evening. The Lyran contingent has agreed to welcome home the old Solaris favorite. Both sides have agreed to limit tonight's fight to a medium weight class lance. Tonight's match will include an added twist, the Arena will be randomly chosen just hours before the match starts. Reserve your tickets now to this inaugural fight or you'll miss out on the hottest action since the Blake Occupation.
OOC: A quick vet medium lance match to knock off the rust.

[blockquote]Rolled 2d6 : 4, 1, total 5[/blockquote]
[blockquote]Rolled 2d6 : 3, 1, total 4[/blockquote]
mmmm... interesting... I wasn't expecting you guys to go whole-hog and randomize each individual mech, but this should make for quite a unique match.
Looking forward to seeing the results :D
Well, the Isolated Unit table is really hard to use in this situation, as only I should actually have any troops, as in actual army units present. I just picked the "C" chart for Lyran Mediums, and just random rolled for the mechs, and I believe Dis did the same.
A team of pilots from the Mckenna Stables have come from the Lushann Arena and registered for this sparring match. Who shall face off against some boys and girls from the Raven Alliance that have come to see what Solaris has to offer?
Wrong thread, sadly.. :P
Clan Hell's Horses are in... although given the timings, I doubt you guys want to fight a MM game with me at 0500 hours (your time). So it might be proxies, unless Tassa can fit it into his schedule.
If anyone is up for a match against the Rasalhague Dominion, I will probably be available this evening. Just shoot me a PM if you are interested in a game (4:30 PM or later, US eastern time)
I'd be up for it if someone else hasn't grabbed you first. I should be on MSN 7-7:30 EST.
Aaaaaand the first match is complete. RD played against Marik Commonwealth, but lost after a very fun and tough game. The fight was an RD 3rd line Binary vs. a FWL "B" company - all medium mechs, composition determined using the isolated units chart.
Quote
RD scored 50 points
MC scored 75 points
MC scored 50% more points than RD, making this a decisive victory.
Marik Commonwealth gains 3 victory points
RD loses one victory point, but had none to start with so stays at zero.
Victory!

Although this is technically a "Marginal Victory" for the Falcons, it really should be A Decisive Victory only because I ended the fight after turn 2. My lack of ability to roll above 4 in this game was the reason I lost.
