Title: So many people on... no one talking...
Post by: Fatebringer on July 18, 2012, 09:45:28 PM
I see 5 people on :P I'm assuming people are waiting for GM intervention like me. I think this game is going to progress much differently then cannon. No one attacking because we all want to build up tech and stuff. :P Y'all better get busy or I'll send my mercs after joo! XD

You're going to waste mercenaries on attacking the Free Rasalhague Republic: that's kind of zany, Fatebringer. I think you're taking this Romano thing a bit far.  :D

And who is the FRR suppose to attack? Since I don't want to piss off my neighbors since I'd get overwhelmed in a turn either way and probably by both if attack either, I'm forced to plan for a long range attack against pirates, and I really don't want to do that for at least four more turns since it'll make headaches for the GMs and also I'll probably lose if I don't have five regiments of troops and several aerospace squadrons.

All I know is that my forces could run into a Clan Galaxy or something odd like that if I just go willy-nilly over to Star's End. The first rule of combat is know who you'll attacking, and I just do not favor attacking the darkness. In the past the dark has been my constant enemy: this time I'm not going to be lured into a pointless battle against the dark. I just can't afford it this time.

In some respects we all know that shiny new toys await us if we dedicate RPs and time to tech advancement.  After all, in canon there is a slew of TROs packed full of these new toys.  Just need the right key.

Also, given the hindsight of both canon and former FGCs, there is either the specter of the bogeyman in the form of Kerensky's hordes or the 3039 version of The Dark awaiting us.  Or even a Comstar who might decide to flex their military muscle against one of more Great Houses, rather than wait for Tukkayid.

Or it could be that i'm just waiting on the League to get back to me on the our new boundary, and whether Sian sits in the League zone or Suns zone.  It's not all bad news though for the common folk as the Greater SIC will mean that Candace will govern more of her people.  :)

Honestly I'm waiting to hear on a laundry list of requests and issues as long as your arm and don't want to put any more irons in the fire until I get some kind of response on the old ones.

I'm also waiting for the GM to send stuff in my direction :)

at least it looks as if we'd be free of pirates this turn :)

Come ooon, it's not like the LC would send their whole army against joo :P With Chaos playing the FWL? No one will leave a warmonger at their backdoor :P

At least Chaos has the benefit of being able to attack himself without bringing the other great houses into it :P He can schedule a game whenever he wants :P

What could go wrong? I lose a new shiny factory. Nope, the people of Rasalhague have spoken, and they have said with a resounding voice, "Vi nöd mer Comstar!" So until, Comstar asks me to build indoctrination camps; I'll bow to them. Besides, they were one of the first organizations to recognize the Republic in canon, so I have to be nice to them until the Rasalhague population decides that they'd rather be six armed polar bears.

Plus, Comstar has to get their warships crewed and stuff like that to really make us decide to turn on them. You know to make the odds even more lopsided in the fight.

Despite my best efforts, I should note...  ::)

It is true that no one really has a good reason to do anything overly silly or impulsive right now, and the fact that I'm not a faction head means that impulsive and silly things are comperitively unlikely (I still think I could have had the FRR, if it wasn't for thouse meddeling kids!)

But can't we at least set up a play date for all our kids or something?  They're all broadly the same age, they got on so well on Outreach in 3051, and Phelan could be there too this time.  I promice Kali won't perform cult rituals on anyone, with out asking for their parent's permission first.

How dare you kind sir! HOW DARE YOU!!  You really think me and harlock could go five minutes without planning something silly? well I'll have you know we have Many crazy/Zany plans with wacky contingency plans.

No, Storming a comstar facility with an entire cluster of elementals is not one of them....As i said, been there done that  ;D

Silly plans are easy.  Actualy carrying them out?  That, one tends to find, is another matter.

CC is not.

FS also has no ops (unless those pirates that hit us last turn haven't moved), so we might be able to collectively move forward on schedule to turn 3.

On the other hand, has anyone heard from DK?  He hasn't logged in for more than four days.

Actually, I'll just let the cat out of the bag though I've done it already several times. The FRR would like to host a Martial Olympics/Regular Olympics on Tukayyid around Turn V. It's actually more like Ted Turner's Goodwill Games than anything. We call it the Rasalhague Friendship Games, but the Sweedinish name for it is the Rasalhague Vänskap-Kawaii Spelsama (Rasalhague Cute Friendship Lord Games). Basically all faction are invented to attend, and I will guarantee the safety of any foreign heads of state for the games.

There are some more details like a small entrance fee for each faction, and a prize amount that we haven't exactly worked out since it depends on attendance. The game winner will decided on who wins the most events. However, we expect that it would create good RP nevertheless. And if you guys want to do a play date, that's probably the best avenue for it.

On that note, why Tukayyid? Well, we wanted a world that most faction could send a delegation to if they chose to attend which is inside the Republic's boarders, and we didn't want to use Orestes.

Tuk is rather perfect. Great location and its pretty damn wide open, nothing but us farmers here! Just wait till you guys see the Mascot that MechaDynamics is providing ^_^, hint? Ever seen the movie, death to smoochie ^_^

Although Romano would obviously think this a trap, I'm sure we could spare up some people for a games if it's supported by other houses as well.

Not sure, he usually fades out mid-cycle. I'm sure Bergie could use a response on the FWL stuff.

I'm a bit worried myself, not just for DK (though his absance is distressing) but for everyone else as well.

The worst of it is that there's a feedback loop to inactivity.  I'd meant to do some post battle RP to commemorate this FGC's first MM battle (a tremendous victory for the CC by yours truely) and yet with no one on, I'm disuaded.  Why post RP that no one is going to be active to read, why support a game that seems like it might not last too many turns?  Better to use my time looking at cat videos (I don't actualy do that, but you get the idea).

So, let's at least get some OOC banter.

I read the glorious victory! XD I try to avoid reading some of the RP for other factions so I don't think about things I don't know about, but every now and then I go read stuff just because I want to read stuff :P

I remember when in the last game when I wrote an epic story about how Bryn Cooper went mad... again. I wish more people saw it so I definately know what you mean. Also, my RP for the space battle that Sank the Bismark :) Good times. Still, I think of this game and how it's a turn based Large Scale combat mod and I'm still happy. I acknowledge the inactivity, but that works well for my plans. "Muah ha ha! Yes, Cower you Davion Dogs! The sleeper shall awaken!"

The GM staff started the "knee jerk rules change after a rule is accidentally found to benefit the Fed Suns" thing. I got really tired of that in the last game so I'm reevaluating my participation.

Not sure what that's about, I know I have my issues with the Fed Suns. Way back when I first signed up for the CBT board, I had a different handle. I'd just gone to my first Gencon, had a bad experience and felt that Davion Fiat was over represented at the game and did a big post about it. I'd gotten the info on the forum at Gencon. Maaan, did those Davionista's come back hardcore to defend their beloved Faction. It doesn't change the fact that my objections were valid.

Favorable Unit Placement for the Fed Suns, unfavorable for the DCMS and the referee wasn't really watching the game. While I can't blame a referee for not making sure the Davion Players were marking off heat and ammo at a Gencon game, it was my first game. All I knew was that the end result wasn't fair and I wanted to talk about what happened.

Before that Gencon, I was also a big fan of the Davions, but that was mostly because I didn't start reading the novels until after the Clans attacked and VSD was the big hero of most of the books. I didn't realize the unbalance until that game. I mean, every staff member except Randall Bills showed up wearing Fedsuns shirts. :P Randall had on the Drac shirts that was available.

I'm in the process of moving, but I've been more hopeful lately that Intelser has a future. Even with low activity for GM's, we'd had a good amount of people just talking to each other now :)
