Nadir Jumppoint, Albert Falls

September 3091

Simpson Desert seemed so far away to Felix Ungaard at the moment.  He should be back home, governing, instead of being light years away on behalf of Duke Photon.   How had the old Duke ever conned him into doing this, thought the leader of Simpson's Desert.  Lost in his own thoughts, he nearly missed the nod from the communications specialist standing off to one side.  Suddenly he was going 'live'.

"Good day citizens of Albert Falls.  I am Felix Ungaard, Prime Minister of Simpson's Desert.  Our Duke, Photon Brett-Marik of Tamarind asked me to travel to your world with the desire to seeing Albert Falls once again become a part of not only the Duchy of Tamarind, but also of the greater Free Worlds League.  Captain-General Corrine Marik herself sent me a message, expressing her great desire to see Albert Falls stand once more under the Free Worlds banner."

"Your future is here, people of Albert Falls.  I urge you to consider my words carefully, ask any question of me that you desire and sieze this moment in respect of your ancestors and in consideration of those who will come after you.  Your world has stood alone for several years, however no more.  The Free Worlds League stands ready to embrace you.  Will you embrace her as your ancestors once did?"

Felix Ungaard sat back in satisfaction as the bevy of locals opposite finished signing the formal declaration of incorporation into the Tamarind Duchy, and therefore, the Free Worlds League.  It had been like hearding a great mass of cats over the last three, no four, days.  As the locals dickered amongst themselves more often than not as to which political party had the most votes (bought or otherwise) to count at the negotiation table.  Finally the draft had been finalised and proof read by all present.  Then, the signing had gone ahead, running to plan until the third from last politician, a ferret of a swamprat from one of the northern city states paused to argue another point.  Luckily the rather striking leader from the Shaoling provinces had whispered in the mans ear, all the while running her left hand into his pocket.  Funny how a man so eager to argue one moment, could move so quickly the next in total agreeance that signing was really for the best.  Felix had raised one eyebrow as the woman gave him a fleeting smile from across the table.  'Well, well, well,' he thought quietly to himself as he noticed again the long legs of his sudden acquaintance.
