Invasion:
3rd Taurian Lancers Reg Rel - 12.5 Mech
18th Corp Air Division Reg Rel - 1 Aero (Navy)
Far Looker Defenders 3rd Reg Rel - 10 FP Aero

It was odd to realize that they were attacking an enemy on the world of Armington, but that enemy wasn't the Federated Suns. Instead, the Suns were welcoming the attack - giving the world to the Taurians as proof they were being set up as fall guys - should the Taurians be able to pull it out of the Dark's hands.

The belief was that there were going to not only be the force that had attacked the planet, but that there was going to be a nearly equal sized force as well backing them up. But that was only a belief from some of the higher-up's ponderings.

Now it was time to find out what these monsters really had in store for them.

OOC- We need an init roll here.

Dark init roll

[blockquote]Rolled 2d6 : 3, 4, total 7[/blockquote]

Jeyar

Sorry about that - will add it to another thread.

[blockquote]Rolled 2d6 : 6, 4, total 10[/blockquote]

Jeyar

So, we went into the init phase, anyone around here? :)

LittleH13

Jeyar is the roll above your init roll or not. You have to make your intentions clear not vague.

Jeyar

Yes, that was the init roll. Sorry, I mentioned on another thread I was going to add one on another thread (this one) but didn't mention that here.

Jeyar

Sooo... it looks like the TC wins the init roll...

Sooo.... any Dark around here that the TC can attack?

LittleH13

The Dark forces on the planet are as follows

Shadow Galaxy   Grey Keshik   Mech cluster   Elite   Fanatical      5.5

Well, I seem to have lost a MM opponent as I didn't bring all my forces and foolishly brought it up at the end of the game and didn't first say was willing to do what was needed to make opponent happy... Willing to bump up the damage to keep an opponent, but didn't get to say so on MM - didn't type fast enough before he left. Also I didn't stress things, such as confusion at 5 BA stars instead of 4, and being surprised that an elite clan mech was 1/2 and elite BA were 2's.

Brought 6 level 1 and 6 level 2 heavy mechs (5 company of each, divide by 10 (6.25 + 5 = 11.25, so I made a mistake here too, one of the groups of 6 should have been assaults)). Opponent had 3 clan level elite light mechs (1 FP per binary, times 1.5 due to elite, divide by 10 so 3 mechs = .45 FP) plus 5 BA squads (which would be only .025 over if they were all "regular"). Dark eliminated, TC lost one level 1 mech. Which at the time (I) assumed to be worth 5/6 FP.

Totally willing to do whatever needed not to be sneaky. The only reason I didn't bring the Aerospace force was it made the forces silly level uneven - I totally agree that at first I thought I would bring everything, but with the 11 FP adder being so many more mechs and the extra BA for the opponent, I said it was too many (but only once, and figured that a simple count of the mechs I brought would make that evident) and only brought the main force.

What I was thinking was I lost 5/6 FP (which after repair becomes .75 net loss), however please understand I gather I was confusing, so I am willing to lose 23.5 * (5/6) / 12.5 = 1.567. Shoot, I am willing to lose 23.5 * (5/6) / 11.25 = 1.740. Man, I'm even willing to lose 23.5 * 1 / 12 = 1.983 (or 1.7625 after healing), and then round it up to 2. Whatever – I suppose I should have brought up my confusion at things earlier, but was just wanting to move things along.

But here is the problem: the number of aerospace that were around to bomb the mechs would have been over 5 per – and that would have ended the game pretty much on turn 2 with likely no losses whatsoever. Adding mechs (if common) would have nearly doubled the units on the TC side, which was already silly level. With the extra BA units around, and my comment on the numbers, I really thought it was all understood. Shoot, I didn't take any SRM boats to the fight due to the last time that being an issue in spite of my taking it once before with infernos from an enemy.

So, willing to do whatever seems fair now that all is posted.

In any case: Dark Gone.

Salvage is somewhere between:
(2 + 5.5) * (15 + This dice roll has been tampered with!
Rolled 2d6 : 2, 6, total 8)/100 FP rounded to nearest quarter, assuming that the TC took 2 FP damage.

To
(.75 + 5.5) (15 + (whatever that roll above said))/100 rounded to the nearest quarter, assuming the TC took .75 loss.

Edit: Don't want to confuse things more with yet other issues, so removed that part.

Jeyar

So the TC could have lost a net of .25 FP, or gained a net of .75 FP. Need a "fairness" decision on this one.

In any case, the important details:

1) How are the people here?
2) Is the planet still a control world?
3) Anything else up that needs deciding (above included of course)?

Dave Baughman

Am I correct in understand that the MegaMek game was not actually completed? I notice that the end of game summary screen wasn't posted here.

If this is the case the most appropriate way to resolve the situation would probably be to roll simple resolution and disregard the incomplete MM game.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Apollyon, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Jeyar

The game was completed in that all the Dark were defeated. I have the save file if you want to see it.

chaosxtreme

I concur that the game was completed.  That I lost, and the events above are indicative of the outcome.

:-) Sorry I missed this earlier.

You have found the same situation as all of the other planets. And yes this is still a CW. Please mark as *Complete*
