"Khan Sonoma, this is Star Colonel Adam of the 2nd Wolf Legion of Delta Galaxy of Clan Wolf.  Elements of our aero wing have won the bidding to face your force and will meet you in coordinates around the second moon.  Final bid is forthcoming."

OOC - Trial accepted.  SafCon to fight around the moon will be allowed.  Final absolute bid is pending proxy.

Daemonknight

Khan Sonoma was not happy. The Wolf commander had apparently decided to be clever, bidding only aerospace forces, to attempt to deny the Falcon mechwarriors honor. She would not allow such a farce to take place.

"Interesting bid Star Colonel. However, I will be landing my forces on the moon, as you have selected that as the site of our Trial. I will not allow you to deny my mechwarriors their due glory through clever bidding. If you decide this doesn't meet with your approval, then too bad. You chose the site, and gave your bid. Perhaps if you'd like to ammend your bid to include ground forces, I would be inclined to allow my own forces to bid lower. Otherwise, my initial bid stands. Khan Sonoma out."
"My only regret is that I will not be alive in .03 seconds. I would have liked to watch the enemy attempt to vent an omnidirectional thermonuclear blast enveloping their outpost."

"Khan Sonoma, if you believe that you can put your mechwarriors in the space AROUND the moon, as I responded, so be it.  If you wish to use mechwarriors against my fighters in space, so be it.  Your batchall has been accecpted.  My defensive bid has been stated, along with the location of the fight.  I am sorry this does not meet with your expectation.  However, there you have it.  If you do not have confidence in your own aerospace forces, perhaps next time you should leave them out of your batchall, quiaff?"

Daemonknight

"Star Colonel, did I bid an aerospace force? I am quite sure I bid my Keshik and a Galaxy. That means mechs, and if there are any aerospace forces within my forces, they are integrated to the unit and do not operate on their own. Your choice of venue is designed to prevent me from utilizing my forces. I consider such underhanded, Inner Sphere tactics to be dishonorable, and if one of my Clan attempted such, they would be facing possible removal from the Warrior caste. You are not of my Clan, but you still claim to be Clan. Ammend your choice of venue to a suitible location, or else this batchall is ended, and you will face the full scope of my forces. I am willing to cut down my bid if you will change the venue, and fight as equals, which is more than can be said of others."

"I apologize Khan Sonoma, I had thought you were Khan of Clan Jade Falcon, not an underling of the Star Adder Khans.  Your last transmission is clearly a message from the Adders.  You bid a force which includes battlemechs, elementals, and aerospace fighters.  Perhaps other types of units.  It is not for me to know how incapable and inept your fighters are.  Your trial was accepted.  As the defender, we determine the venue and the force we will use.  It is up to you to act honorably or to continue to act like the Star Adders and their cowardice.  I am certain that is not the way of Clan Jade Falcon.  So, unless you wish to make a mockery of the trial which you yourself issued, then state with what forces you will face us in the space around the moon.  It is not Kerensky's way for you to strong arm us to bid to your advantage.  I am confident in my units ability to defeat your force.  If your aerospace fighters are so incapable, that is not my problem.  You brought them and then you wish to deny them battle.  Our bid is made, the venue is declared.  You are honorbound to accept the trial you initiated or to follow the Star Adders cowardly path.  Make your choice and quit trying to force us to do your will."

Daemonknight

Khan Sonoma's laughter could be heard over the comlink.

"We are strong arming YOU? You are clearly unable to see the irony in that statement. Choosing to fight in space, to prevent me from using my forces, what would you call that? Clever perhaps? I do not wish for an answer, I have no more desire to waste my breath on you, Wolf. It will be my honor to cleanse the Wolves of such a dishonorable warrior. This batchall is ended, thanks to your inability to walk the path of honor."

CJF disconnects, and does not respond to further communications from the Wolves. The CJF fleet looses it's ASF as a screen, and the whole of the ground forces burn to the surface.

The 1 FP of aerospace fighters I have take up offensive defensive interdiction.  The remainder of the 2nd Wolf Legion depart the system.

Daemonknight

I suppose I should've clairified that my ASF was on O-Interdiction, but i suppose thats my own fault for dropping the ball.

NVA

Understood.  If I read the rules right, if I have defensive interdiction in place, you have to defeat it before you O-Interdiction takes affect.  Essentially, the blocking defensive interdiction while an escape occurs is normal procedure, if there is no blockade.

Daemonknight

We need initiative. If I win, then I can setup an O-interdict before your forces get moving. I'm trying to stop your ground forces from escaping.

Waiting for a GM ruling, as my understanding of the rules is different.

LittleH13

I do not see why there is a ruling needed here as the rules clearly state how this works. I will post the rule for Defensive Interdiction and Offensive Interdiction and highlight in red the relevant text.

QuoteDefensive Interdiction
Type: Special
Requirement: Aerospace units
Effect: Successful interdiction prevents attacking transports from landing their troops. This is the default combat order for defensive aerospace and naval forces, and may be changed before the engagement if the defending player so chooses. If an interdiction is cancelled, there is nothing to stop the transports from landing.

Note: Naval Engagement or Break Interdiction orders can be used to penetrate interdiction. If 25% of the interdiction force is destroyed, the interdiction fails and is no longer effective.

Offensive Interdiction
Type: Special
Requirement: Aerospace units
Effect: Successful interdiction prevents defending transports from retreating from a system. Offensive Interdiction is only possible where no hostile forces are on interdicton, blockade, or naval engagement orders.

Note: Naval Engagement or Break Interdiction orders can be used to penetrate interdiction. If 25% of the interdiction force is destroyed, the interdiction fails and is no longer effective.

So as the bidding was cancelled the Wolf ASF goes on DI automatically unless stated otherwise.

Daemonknight

So basiclly, its impossible to stop someone's ground forces from escaping so long as they have a single ASF on planet, unless you have a blockade.

Well, whatever, I guess I'm just hitting your 1 FP with my 40.
