I am Star Colonel Jess Cochraine of the 6th Viper Aero Cluster.

You claim to be warrior's then you test yourself against the inferior Spirit Cat's and claim you know what it is to fight the Clan's! Well Surat's this station is t now claimed by the Steel Viper's whom among you is brave enough to face my forces in honourable combat.

6th Viper Aero Cluster Regular Reliable 6 FP

OOC: Note I am declaring my force's involved this is not my bid. My bid will be based on the defender bid.

"Star Colonel Jess Cochrane of the 6th Viper Aero Cluster,  This is Lt. Commander Dinh Pham of the Coast Guard Naval Station High Road 1,  we never claimed that fighting bandits is fighting the Clans, I do not know where you heard that slur, sirrah.  Though you did get ONE thing right-the so-called 'Clan' Spirit Cat, burners of worlds, multitraitors that they are, ARE inferior.  As I do not want my shipping lanes clogged with debris for the next six months, I will offer you safe conduct to dock with the station, where we can discuss our bid."

chaosxtreme

"Let us be about it then Freebirth!"

Star Colonel Jess Cochraine's Sabutai dock's with the station.

"So, let us set terms."  The station's Commander was a small, compact man with the 'radiation dark' tan of a deep-spacer, and the vacuum scarring on his face to match  His oversuit had patches, but these were spot-glued instead of sewn, and his helmet was lanyarded.  This was a spacer's outfit-something of a rarity in the Clan worlds-a man with so little time on a planet's surface, that he carried an earthtone marker-bar on his breast pocket, indicating a single six month surface tour.  "I believe the term is 'augmented' or 'un-augmented'- the latter does a hell of a lot less damage, and one of us picks the location, right?"

chaosxtreme

Quineg freeborn. The stravag who taught you the Clan system has done so poorly.

This is a trial of possession and my batchall stands freebirth. I have brought the 6th Viper Aerospace Cluster to prove surat that this station belong's to Clan Steel Viper.

We have no agreement to single combat freeborn! You are simply not worthy Lt. Commander Dinh!

You wanted to discuss your bid in person. Well we are here and we are discussingdiscussing.

The 6th Viper's have come for your installation surat with what force's do you dare oppose us?

OOC: Zellbrigen fun fact's

1) Location is yours to decide as the challenged.

2) augmented and un-augmented actually only come into play when dealing with a ToP between two warriors.

3) It is theoretically possible for you to force a un-augmented combat through bidding a single soldier un-augmented but as seen in other thread's I could still bid an elemental with armor to be a dick. So when doing so it is best to studiously observe clan honor protocol's because one wrong mis-step can end you up in curbstomp domain.

Dinh shrugged, "I assumed you brought marines with you, junior.  Go back to your people, tell 'm that the trial's refused, you're going to have to take the station by board-and-storm, and tell your Word of Blake sponsors that no, they do not get to have a free space station here."  A display flickered, and Dinh jerked a thumb at it, "Your timing's too good-you're either working with them, or for them."

Star Colonel Jess Cochraine began to shake with rage as spittle began to fly from her mouth fliying off in droplet's in the low g environment as her face grew red in rage.

"You lucre warrior freebirth blood foul? YOu dare! You dare accuse us of collaboration with the not named! I WILL HAVE YOUR HEAD NOW SURAT!

Drawing her fire arm she proceeded to fire shot after shot at the UIW spacer.

OOC: The roll for personal combat is not really relevant. Please do some RP about the Star Colonel not getting out of there alive, beat down etc.

Your response has prompted our's.

[ooc: who says people can't keep trying to kill each other when the world is burning around them?]

Pham rolled sidways, and came up, under the Viper's arm, swinging his helmet.

"You're going to be offended?  Gee, that's original.  Gone for twenty years, you people show back up at the SAME TIME with the SAME GOALS and you don't like being compared to them?? What, you think we're THAT gullible here?"

[ooc-Chaos, note that a helmet classes as a club, and no, I"m not going to just jump right into easy self-destruction with simple res, so I WILL ignore your sudden space attack unless you can prove it wasn't sudden, but instead what your characters intended and planned in the first place.]

"and if you think pulling a gun is going to un-do that little impression, got some news for you that you can take back to the cloners you came from-it undermines your argument, and marksmanship THAT bad is almost a sin against nature-you need to get your eyes checked, sweetie."

Through her rage the Star Colonel began to focus on her surroundings bred and trained to fight in three dimension's detail's began to become clear. She saw everything. The improvised club in the freeborn's hands, the tactical display to her right with the flashing red word's recalled. At first she thought the Freeborn was somehow playing for time for new force's to arrive here but then out of the corner of her left eye she saw a report about nuclear detonation's in the Kowloon system.

No they are not playing for time, they are not trying to subvert the trial,  these Freeborn's were being invaded by the not-named or at least some freebirth spheroid trading on their infamy.

But if so why provoke an attack from Steel Viper? Why make a routine trial into something that will force a Viper invasion of their nation? Unlesss..these trashborn surats can not tell that I am clan!"

Slowly Jess mastered her emotion's and hardened her stare upward into the eye's of the Freeborn Rockjack.

" I am Star Colonel Jess Cochrane of the 6th Viper Aero Cluster. I issue a batchall for the possession of this space station, and all it's personnel. I have come to this station at your request to hear your defensive bid, If you do not respond with a formal reply freebirth I am left with no alternative but to assume it is your intent to resist with all force's under your command and will respond with the entire might of the 6th Viper's surat. I have been as clear in our intent as I can be freeborn. Do. not. push. me."

"I have thirty-six fighters, one dropship, and Twelve companies of Marines with an escort company of combat-capable smallcraft, a handfull of Flatlanders who can not fight their way out of a vacuum bubble in null gee, plus the weapons on the station, that would be the sum-total of what I would term 'combat effectives' available."  Dinh told her,  "Which I suspect is a collection considerably smaller than a Cluster of Clan Aerostars, each of which numbers ten fighters to the star, and two to three stars depending on trinary or binary organization, plus your carrier dropships and escorting long-range vessels..." he reached out with his left foot, and caught the tumbling Clan pistol with his toe, flicked it into his hand, and offered the sidearm to her, "given your shooting, I think we can safely say that you do NOT want to fight a boarding action, so Marines are probably out of the equation, Star Colonel, I dislike having to supervise equipment repair, and the outer hull sectors do not take particularly kindly to projectiles-when you have to import your air, losing it is a pain in the ass."

He folded his arms, "So, first, I will bid away Marine boarding parties from the three battalions assigned here, along with their battle-taxis and Aquarius escort craft, and to make it a round number, I agree to bid away the interceptor squadron and one squadron of Medium fighters, for a total of twenty four fighters, which works out four squadrons of mixed medium and heavy designs-or a short reinforced binary of your fighters.  That is bidding away my best troops to prevent the station from becoming uninhabitable for flatlanders*."

*'Flatlander is a slightly-less-insulting Rockjack/Belter term for persons born and raised in a Planetary environment.

"You know what really gets under my skin Star Colonel? you have a cluster out there, just one...which can fill every berth and bay on this station, with spare personnel and parts, your pilots never have to pull 288 hour patrols...because you have enough bodies to put in the cockpits."  he sighed, "I envy you for that. The biggest legacy from the Flu, is that we can crank out equipment day and night, but we damn near have to take anyone who can pass the basic course, because the whole UNION has a shortage of personnel-a Cluster is equivalent to a Regiment, and we have whole Brigades that do not match your Cluster for sheer manpower, much less quality manpower-which means we end up, because of those shortages, with a pretty high death rate, even in training operations, which only makes things worse when we have to go out and do dirty jobs for foreigners to keep our homeworlds from sliding back into the darkness.  when you are out there, remember that the kids you are fighting? never had the luxury to say 'no' when the draft notice came, never had the luxury to choose where, whom, or why they fight-none of us do, if we had the choice, we would be back home, fighting the REAL enemy, the one that is probably mopping up the last of our naval forces at Kowloon, the one that is probably going to burn our homeworld, and the orbitals, for sheer joy of doing it."

He sighed, "I hope you always have the luxury to be only where you wish to be, and only when you are truly needed there.  My men will be fighting your men, knowing that their families are probably dying, and there is nothing they can do to stop it."

chaosxtreme

Why do you not then go freebirth?

This station is a military installation and our victory is frankly assured. Take your people and go and fight this invasion of Kowloon.

You have bid away many of your force's. There is no need for them to remain? Why do you not take them and go while your binary of fighter's face my own force's.

I am relatively sure it is not due to cowardice quineg.

So take your people and go to Kowloon

OOC: Reference is defensive reinforcement order.

"Because my pilots might win this, and because unless you have not been paying attention, the travel time from here to Kowloon's system is four months by the shortest route, assuming one has a jumpship, which, if you can count, you will note the number here is some multiple of zero-by the time, assuming we COULD leave, we got there, it would be over, win-or-lose." he growled, "Not that your idea has not occurred to me, I just lack the means, along with the necessary time-travel device to get there in time to have even a miniscule impact on the outcome... so, I will be watching the trial from the outer hull of the station, because it affords me the luxury of not watching my sons, nephews, Daughter and Nieces fighting an entire Fleet of former Terran vessels commanded by someone who rips their lines from bad B-feature holovid villains...got a joke you might appreciate..."

He smirked,
"in greater numbers, there is no question of their might,
But faced bad odds, of their courage?
Just watch the Falcons' Flight."
