[Amy is at Planting, so telecomuting when not directing combat opperations (limited though they have proven to be).  saKhan Sainze is at Antares, so we'll see how active she proves to be, but is probably not actively listening.]

At this point rage had twisted Khan Zalman's face.

"This is pathetic. And yet so many Clan's are willing to vouch for these vermin."

Fatebringer

"Not everyone has your free time Khan Zalman." The image of Bryn Cooper spoke. "Would you be so dishonored by accepting to opportunity to face those you deem unworthy? Do you truly wish to face the best of us...at these odds? If so I suggest you take Khan Lynn's offer." The smirk on Bryn's face showed how much he enjoyed watching the Viper Khan have to work hard achieve his goals. How many times had the Ravens been the one operating from a weaker position? How many times has the Vipers tried these same manuevers on them to keep them down. "Of course, if you do not need us to plan for the liberation of New Kent from the Degraza Mandrills, we could perhaps postpone that instead?"

GreyJaeger

"You had already refused us once, and we have not asked for your assistance again saKhan Cooper. You and many other Clans have postponed the assistance promised so they can glut themselves. And yes, the Steel Vipers are willing to face you, MY Clan still has honor. I knew the odds going when I made my bid. The fact that at these odds this Council still tries to hide its cowardice speaks volumes."

Holt

"Though we support the Mandrills name change, we cannot stand in the way of the Vipers call for a trial; it is how our laws are laid out." Said Khan Sennet of the Sharks. "Anyone wishing to persuade the Vipers from their right through words or might, will incur the wrath of the Sharks. We are honor bound to follow our laws, who wishes to not follow them; please speak up."

Khan Adrianna Schmitt of Clan Blood Spirit, speaking through holographic representation, had to physically restrain herself from rolling her eyes at the Shark Khan.  "Spare us the pontification, Barbara.  You are not the ilKhan, nor is Raina, so could you try to conduct yourselves as if you do not hold the post, quiaff?"

The Spirit Khan leaned forward slightly as she spoke.  "In these most trying of times, any action that might minimize the conflicts between us should be embraced, in order to ensure that our attention is focused on the true enemy."  Adrianna raised an eyebrow as she regarded Khan Sennet disdainfully.  "There is no dishonor nor violation of our redes and laws in trying to ensure that reason wins out over spiteful and petty squabbling and needless waste.  I would think that a merchant would understand such basic principles."

Allison Sonoma was irritated by the discussion in the Grand Council. Despite the combat mission she was about to lead, she felt compelled to speak.

"What is going on in this council? Khan Zalman has issued a Trial of Refusal, and we discuss whether or not the Camels should fight? It is not a matter of whether the Camels wish to defend the vote or not, it is a matter of who wins the bid! We are still Clan, are we not? This isn't some Inner Sphere Traitor House, where we all sit around and discuss an issue and compromise until we reach a conclusion! There is a Trial issued, and it must be fought by those who would see their will enforced." Allison knew her declaration would bristle some egos, but so be it. She was tired of hearing this issue debated.

"I have already bid forces from my Jade Falcon Guards that will participate in the Trial. Unless another Khan has a counter-bid, i think this discussion is at an end. Khan Zalman, the Falcon Guards are currently conducting combat operations alongside me on Montmarault. As soon as the fighting there is at an end, i will dispatch them to a location of your choosing to commence the Trial and decide this matter, quiaff?"

"ilKhan, Clan Ghost Bear declines to bid. We fully endorse the Jade Falcon bid and believe that your Warriors will serve honorably and well in defense of the positions of this Conclave."

"As for other matters being discussed here, we see no purpose to them. A Trial of Refusal has been called and it is as much the Vipers' right as it is their folly. Those of us who voted in favor of a Council decision are honor-bound to defend it. Now that the Jade Falcons have bid, we are content to let them defend the Council's honor, but those Clans who spoke before their bid without bidding themselves are shamed by such action."

tassa_kay

"Attempting to minimize waste, and to preserve every able-bodied warrior for the war against the False Star League and the Not-Named that pulls their strings, is not shameful in the slightest.  Perhaps the Clans would stand a better chance of ending the war victoriously if we were not so quick to slit each other's throats over opaque points of honor.  Is this not the same sort of behavior that many amongst us have mocked the Inner Sphere for?"

The Khan shrugged.  "The Camels will stand or fall as befits any Clan, but there is not a Clan amongst our number who has the right to pass shame around like work credits.  But that is neither here nor there.  Let the Trial commence, as those who are to participate in it have stated their intent to do so, and all that is left is for the Trial to be conducted and concluded swiftly.  But if this Council suddenly believes that sharing our thoughts with each other is shameful, then I fail to see the point of having a Council to begin with."

JediBear

"As preserving the Way of the Clans is the very essence of why this war must be fought, we can not allow it to fall by the wayside. That would make the war itself the most pointless waste imaginable. The Trial of Refusal as well as the warrior's absolute right for it was established by our Founders in the first days of the Clans. A vote was made and the voices who opposed it honor our Ways by calling it to Trial. Further, it can not be considered a waste to fight for the honor of the Grand Council. While you have a right to voice your opinions, proper procedure dictates that those bidding for a Trial should not be interrupted by those who simply wish to comment on it."

"As such, having declined to bid, I will speak no further in this Conclave until the matter is resolved."

tassa_kay

The Blood Spirit Khan almost burst into laughter at the phrase "honor of the Grand Council", but her humor was quickly squelched by the temerity of the Ghost Bear Khan to call her own honor into question.  She very nearly declared a Trial of Grievance over the matter, but she did not let her emotions get the better of her.  That is how an Ice Hellion would react: declare a Trial and damn the consequences.

Casting one final, hostile stare at the Bears' leader, she merely disconnected the transmission, taking her leave of the Council without another word.  If the other Khans wished to cast her efforts to safeguard all of their numbers to the wayside and place the honor of one warrior's personal honor over that of all the Clans, that was her right.  And she had finally had enough of trying to make the other Clans see reason.

Let them fight amongst themselves, if that is what they wish.  She had had her fill of trying to deal with the false Clans on a level approaching civility, and would not be bothered to spend the life of a single warrior in defense of their inscrutable need to feed on each other like animals.
